A slight trespass this I suppose but the easiest way up is along the wall-back up from the ROW next to the old Cononley Lead Mine - you're pretty much out of view that way. The walls are a bit precarious here so take care but there are a few fallen parts for access. Trig is over the wall from the mine's smelting chimney and is in very good condition - on a plinth, recently painted and with its original plug. Came across a giant puffball in the next field. Not really accessible nor visible. Basically the approach can be seen from Manor House Farm and would need a couple of wall climbs if the trespass option is taken. I therefore went to the farm, avoiding a cunning Rotweiler, and asked. The request was greeted with a No but fortunately also with a why? My charm and/or explanation must have won the day as I was directed to an open gate into a pasture which led me directly to the pillar which is protected on one side by a wall and not immediatel visible until you get quite close to it. Some good views of the surrounding countryside. Pillar is in good condition with original plug with raised lettering. Was prepared for the Rotweiler on the way back!

They were in full flow today - about half a dozen of them, along with someone from Manor Farm in a Land Rover with the result that the field and the one to the NE are a quagmire - I'm hoping it's a weekend thing & will revisit midweek sometime. Waymarking around this farm is non-existant. Possible access from the NW, just NE of Great Gib farm - where the gate is missing between walls you can climb the hill out of sight of the farm houses, you will need to climb a couple of walls (or do a detour to find the fallen sections) but access is possible.
