Walked past this countless years ago when doing C2C walk. Roadside, so surprised so few visits by baggers. Parked at entrance to track and completed circular, taking in 2 dales - all where I once worked, but never had the chance to explore. Met no one - superb walking and great day out!

Came across this unexpectedly as we were driving home over the moors, had done our planned trig hunting for the day and this one popped up at the side of the road. Had to stop! Good condition, old white paint, cap replaced with what looks like tarmac! Looked very picturesque surrounded by blooming purple heather. Great 360 views. No complaints.

Last maintained by the OS, 15th August 2000. SITE VISIT: Approached from SW. Safe parking, east side of road in junction of track at NZ740040. Direct route 150m along quiet unclassified road to top. Roadside pillar in good condition. Spider centre plugged with tar. Flush bracket faces WNW, ~290°. Vented through SW sight hole. Full 360° open outlook.

I had walked from Grosmont to Pike Hill then on to Glaisdale Rigg – I’d done nine miles without seeing a sole – but this trigpoint is on the Coast to Coast path and so suddenly I had company. Continued down to Glaisdale. I had planned on catching the train but the weather had improved so I walked back making a sixteen mile round trip.
