Corner broken and loose exposing spider. With Gladys, Lisa , Rachael, DavidW, DavidD,Abby,Grace,Lia & Zach to mark 50 years since first climbing this highest hill in Angus, the county of my birth and first Munro.

Re-visit. Lovely spot. Stone missing from top of pillar - well it is there but I think it is held in place by gravity rather than mortar.

Wonderful day's walking with my American family who preferred these mountains to those of the Old Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Saw the largest herd of deer I've ever seen (on the flanks of Creag Leacach ) - well over a hundred, and no exaggeration. The pillar on Glas Maol has a chunk missing on one top corner, & open cap.

Done as the 5th of a round of the 6 Munros to the East of The Cairnwell Pass. A pretty straightforward round by Munro standards with views of the Southern end of the Cairngorms & towards Lochnagar.

Picked up as second on set of six Munros for the day, definitely the better part of the walk here and further s. Great views of the Cairngrom plateau with the ski tows amazingly well hidden in the main

Climbed mountain from close to ski centre taking track via Meall Odhar. A windbreak of rocks protects W side. Good views. Pillar is stone built, plug missing with hole unfilled.

The second of five Munros for the day, we arrived in classic low-vis Highland mist which blew off for 20 minutes revealing the spectacular vista (including our scary route up). Artic Hare and Ptarmigan a plenty... WOW!

Given 5/10 as the entire hill was shrouded in thick mist so no views, the trig is on a featureless plateau typical of the Grampians, went over to Craig Leacach after this.

Driven off by whiteout conditions in May two years previously when coming from Creag Leacach, now became munro no.20, the third on a round trip of Carn an Tuirc and Cairn of Claise. This was the only summit under cloud.

Trig pillar built with local stone, still in good condition. The spider has lost its OS boss leaving the column centre open to the elements. The flush bracket faces west. The weather on the day was dreich. Not easily reached without private transport. Visited and photographed 15/08/2001, GRP.

I was tempted to put this as unreachable but visible. The pillar was buried in snow, and only the top surface was visible. My 5th visit. Skied up from the Cairnwell for a tour over the plateau in some very good snow and weather.

Wednesday 4th, rose at 5.40 Braemar YH, started at 6.40 from a mile north of GleShee summit. Craeg Leacach at 8.30, Glas Maol 2nd, Carn of Claise, Tom Buidhe, Broad cairn, Cairn Bannoch, Carn a'Coire Boideach, Carn an t'Sagairt Mor, Tolmount, Carn and Tuirc. My biggest Munro tally day with 10 Munros and back to my maroon minivan at 6.40pm approximately twenty seven and a half miles
