After driving about trying to find suitable parking and venturing towards the wee lochan, we ended up at a parking spot the the north which states no parking access at all times and keep dogs under control (NO 19484 24425). This was an old sign and probably from a time when shooting occurring within the forest. Given the state of the path it has been some time since any vehicles went up here! We follow the track until it came to an end and then just followed the arrow to the trigpoint which as we expected we stumbled upon rather than spotted from a distance. After bagging the trig we headed for R.A.M Blair's Backyard cache (NO 19401 23041). A mistake as the route from the cache back to the path was a nightmare, high bracken and thistles with added nettles and lots of holes and then a wall to climb. Another adventure for sure and very glad to get back to the path!

Route as per previous visitors. Road end has a No Parking notice so kept well to side and away from gate. Tracks show that vehicles do actually access the 'road'. At end of road as shown on map go straight ahead along faint track to the wall. Cross at a gap then veer left, first descending then ascending gently through larch trees. Widely spaced so trig found more easily than I thought it might be. No views.

Managed to find it just working from the contours on the map without using the compass, but I didn't see it until I was about a metre away: it is fairly well camouflaged having gathered some moss.

Log #115. Started from 195 245 at the generously provided parking area. An enjoyable, fairly flat walk to the end of the track, then the GPS came in handy to find the pillar in the woodland. Indented cap is intact, and the pillar is in good condition - covered in lichen and pine needles. [ExP-104/MiP-2/Rev-1/BM-8]

Met a fellow trigpointer for the very first time; it's often a very lonely experience! He was returning down the track after unsuccessfully searching for this pillar, and had cycled here from Guildtown (pronounced Gilton I discovered). He didn't seem to know about this website so I informed him - hopefully another member soon. I was luckier in my quest, although this one is a little tricky to locate hidden as it is within the trees. The long grass was dew-soaked and I quickly became sodden from the knees down. Strong fox scents in this area: played Reynardine by Fairport Convention back in the car to celebrate this uncomfortable but gratifying search.
