Centre missing, replaced by a plug. Parked on the road by the entrance to Dawn of Day, stiff 120m climb up to the pillar, by a small comms mast. Battery failed on the GPS

Follow footpath through woods, bluebells all the way,trig next to mast ,very calm out in the field after a blustery walk up. Wonderful views.

From entrance to Dawn of day... room for a couple of cars.. why a house would be named as such...? solid track on left side of fence. easy ascent to summit. sphalt pluggwd trig in good condition. wind/solar installation which presumably for the house. upon my return had a chat with another walker, told him about our website. My first hill of 2016 done in a t-shirt!

Parked in Grosmont and did a pleasant 9 mile circular walk taking in the Marilyn with its attendant trig. Pillar is in good condition. Grosmont castle is worth a visit.

Followed the 3CW from Grosmont,then through overgrown path through wood & finally fields. Amazing view of Black Mtns to the west.Could see Hereford & Clee Hills to the N,Malverns & Cotswolds to the E & Forest of Dean to the S with even a glimpse of the Severn Bridge. Fantastic. AKA Edmunds Tump. Taken me 3 years to do this hill that I see most days.Worth the wait! Great weather.Also visited Skenfrith.Think I left my binoculars up ther :-(

Approached from the North. Couldn't find the right of way marked on the map, ended up on the forest track further West and had to scramble up through the woods to reach the trig.

Approached from the south west on a FP across two fields then through woods and into the field at the top. It looks from an earlier photo that this used to be planted with crops but is now full of sheep. Nice views as everyone says. Moody weather today.

Was geocaching in the area and got this one at the same time. A fence marked on the map does not exist now so this stands alone in a field.

Came up here whilst setting a geocache. First passed this on the day I discovered trigpointing (24/6/2006) whilst doing The Three Castles Walk. Fantastic views, though you really need to circum navigate the trig to see them. This field has changed from pasture to crop, but the trig is on the farmers track.

vgc, pasture (I like the OS spelling of Syfyrddin !) Jul04 visit was the end of a 25 Marilyns in 21 hrs extravaganza with Brent Lynam, 03:46, started Long Mountain 06:45 on 16th. Seems from my (previous) hill notes I have a habit of visiting this in the dark - messy route but pleasant hill (albeit in mist & near-dark)
