It was a 4am alarm call for the drive to West Kirby with friends so that we could make the walk at Low tide to the islands of Little Eye, Little Hilbre & Hilbre Island. In total, we walked eight miles to bag 5 trigs in the West Kirby area. This was the second with the pillar being sited very close to the monument. Having visited the islands we made our way to Grange Hill, a pretty woodland high point that overlooked the estuary and islands. The pillar is in generally good condition but is missing the original centre for the spider.

Parked on Abbey Road. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from Hilbre Road up to the pillar, which is close to the Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial, a 14.5 metre high obelisk. The war memorial is also an intersected station,known on here as the Grange Hill Monument. The cap is missing from the pillar.

Followed Murchman's route to this easily accessed pillar. It's a credit to the nation, it really is. I was surprised to find myself alone, but I was. The pillar itself is in good condition with recent paintwork, however the plug is missing. It is also one of the BSM pillars, with the S on the FB appearing above the number. The area and the war memorial nearby are humbling, magnificent views of Liverpool Bay, the Dee and the Welsh hills. This is a great trig. We will not forget.

It's taken me a while to log this one, at time of writing it's 2/7/22. On a visit to my son's new home on the Wirral, he treated me to a great evening walk as part of his explorations of this peninsula. Strange sandstone rock formations are in this local wooded park and bless him, he kept this trig a secret until he directed me on a left turn and there it was, the trig magically appears. Great evening views W across the Dee estuary. We dropped for a wander into Caldy Wood just S of the trig, a smashing explore.

Little detour on the way to today's walk around West Kirby boating lake. Pillar in good condition but missing plug. Good views but pillar close to gorse and is somewhat over shadowed buy the War memorial. Place to reminisce.

Walked up here ('up' is a bit misleading if you park in the right place) on a nice clear day. Now, Grange Hill always conjures up images of noise, energy and activity (maybe I'm thinking of something else) but it was nice and peaceful up here today with views over the estuary to Wales.

Lurking behind some gorse just beginning to flower, a lovely little end of the world spot, distant pale view of snow topped Bowland fells. To the very fine monument it's intersection neighbour next, surprised the 19th century beacon has not been used too which we visit afterwards.

In grass and gorse next to path 30m SE of impressive war memorial. Easy access by hidden but sign posted path from Grange Old Road. A lovely spot with very fine views and a memorial garden in what appears to be an old shallow sandstone quarry.

It's amazing wht you find in the middle of a town. A huge piece of bracken covered moorland. Parked on road to the north and walked up towards the amazing war memorial. More impressive when you reach it, and their is a well kept memorial garden too. The trig sits nearby looking very clean and white. Again, great views.

Impressively situated on top of a cross-bedded sandstone outcrop in Memorial Garden.

After over two months of down time following an unforeseen hospital visit I was very glad to be back on the trig hunting trail, here on The Wirral peninsula. I got off the train in West Kirby and came directly up to the memorial. After admiring the superb views there I then sought out the trig pillar and logged it, before setting off for the second of the day at Thurstaston Common.
