Primarily a Wainwright bag but nice to piggyback a trig on the same walk. Parked at Whins and walked up the Floutern Pass before the steep climb along Steel Brow. First knocked off the Birkett, Herdus before turning back on ourselves for the summit of Great Borne. Goes without saying that the views were first class. Carried on to Starling Dodd then directly down the scree to Ennerdale Forest and along by the lake back to the car. Beer in The Countryman at Lamplugh afterwards.

Set off from Gatesgarth up to Scarth Gap in great spirits. The forecast was good and daylight was not an issue. By the time we reached the pillar on Great Borne we had ticked off the 2000'+ summits of High Crag, High Stile, Red Pike and Starling Dodd and were starting to flag. Dropping steeply down Steel Brow towards Floutern Tarn, we picked up the wet path through Mosedale and we were definitely slowing down. And though it was very pleasant walking along the shores of Crummock Water and Buttermere back to Gatesgarth, my left leg had ceased to work properly. All in all, a good walk.
