As others, followed bridle path heading north east from beside the Ship Inn. Gentle climb through woods, bluebells putting on a good show. Where path levels out is a laurel hedge on right (south east side). No obvious opening, old wooden gate is chained shut. Through hedge, a leafy path leads south east and slightly uphill. Houses nearby but fairly well hidden from direct view although difficult to be silent treading through dry leaves and sticks. Head for high ground through vegetation and trees. Pillar on second mound. No views. Probably someone’s garden but very overgrown. Removed ivy from pillar. Rewarding find deserves extra point.

Yeah, bit of a tricky one. Space in fence near The Gate barb wired up. Fence a few feet back towards The Ship Inn broken down so I went in via that route and followed the directions of others up the path then short scramble through thick growth. Wear long trousers!! Felt like I was trespassing but there aren't any private signs. No view evident at this time of year.

Easiest way in today. Camera man useless. ©COVID Trig Point Challenge

Tricky yet fun one this. Quick lunchtime walk up a nice footpath from the Ship pub. Soon came face-to-face with the infamous 'gate'. Decided to take the entrance just before it which also looked well-used. Quick in and out as did appear to be someone's garden. Path to the right once out of bush then a scramble to the top which was covered in ferns. Offset spider and nice, if under-loved, pillar.

Along the RoW to NW side of the pub. Over a small gate (locked and barbed-wired) and up the mound through laurel and bramble undergrowth. There is a track but runs close to N side of Oakleigh farm house so avoided that. Pillar has a 'BSM' style FB; composite top cap; all sight holes open. No views to speak of, but glimpses through the trees give an idea of what they could be.

As per Griefmiester's comments, I followed the same route, through the gate (feebly chained...) and ploughed through some thick woodland to the trig. It is in good condition, albeit now surrounded by some very VERY thick brambles! Unusual offset spider.

Second time lucky for this one - access no problem - I parked near the pub to the south west (ish) that is where the bridleway crosses the lane then along the bridleway to the north of the pillar, there is a small wooden gate on the right at TQ5187671231 which was open and there are no private signs, from there followed my nose up to the top. Pillar is in good condition and is located in thick bramles, no longer on any form of lawn. no view.

I arrived at first light to visit this Trig but once on the access footpath in the woods everything was very dark and I was doubtful of a successful result. As brighter daylight penetrated the canopy I could see a very prominent mound. However I could not see the Trig but felt sure it was up there somewhere. Anyone who has read my previous logs will know that I try not to let things like barbed wire fences hinder my progress. It took me a while to find a point in this barbed perimeter that could be traversed without damaging myself. Once inside I set about scaling the hill which was fairly arduous due to the dense thicket and undergrowth. Once at the top I could see the trig next to a rotten and partially collapsed wooden seat. I would think at sometime in the past someone probably maintained the view and liked to rest a while. The view has however now been lost to tree growth. While I was up there it seemed to be apparent that I was possibly inside the private grounds of a rather swish looking property. I hastily made my evaluations of a Trig in good condition with a replaced centre cap and no lettering. The Spider is also not central but offset. Having done that I quickly took some pics and beat a retreat before I got myself into trespassing trouble. Overall I am glad I came early and would rate this Trig as a difficult one to log.

When I first visited this pillar in May 06 it was surrounded by vegetation but it has now been cleared all round and there is a small wooden bench. Pillar is in good condition with all four sight holes open but with a resin plug. Approach from bridleway to the north is not too difficult.

This one appears to be in the grounds of one of two large houses (one is called Great Mount Cottage - might be a clue!) I got to within 75 meters, then ran into fences. There is a large mound visable from the road, most likely location. This one requires permission.

This is marked on the current LR and appears to be in the grounds of Oakleigh Farm, another of those broker belt sprawls. No one was home. I made a quick 360 via the unadopted road and bridleway to the rear but was confronted with barbed wire all around :-(

It's in there somewhere! View from the bridleway that runs slightly north of the trig.

I'm writing this in Aug 2018 having just dug out some old maps and found notes on a few trigs I did 20+ years ago before I even realised this site existed! This was the second on a long trig-bagging trip from home (at the time) in Biggin Hill and my map notes say, "Another bitch to get to, with properties all around, but there is a way over a fence, and a footpath leads up to it from the North."
