A thoroughly disappointing trig. Decided to do the bridleway loop, but the whole distance is muddy underfoot with high hedges blocking out views on each side. Initially entered the field to the SE but pillar is behind barbed wire and FB faces west, so decided to continue on the path and enter the next field rather than tackle the barbed wire. This Trig promised so much more, but by the time we were back at the car we were fed up with constantly watching our feet to avoid deep mud. Fortunately The Wellington in Great Orton is a superb pub with very good beer.

True to previous logs the track approach is extremely muddy. Parked opposite the local shop in Great Orton. This precludes a diversion via road and car I had to make due to flooding. Approached from road at SE corner of bridle path. An easy 1 km walk west albeit very muddy underfoot. A gate allows easy access into field. Pillar is tucked in hedgerow at highest point of the hill. Spider plug is infilled. No views.

Met a farmer who said trig not actually on his land, but no problem to visit. Puddles within an inch or two of top of wellies. Easy access if you follow track to beyond trig, round corner before wind turbines and then back over field from gate. Field currently been grazed, field on other side (east) has crop growing in. Farmer informed me his gran-dad used to say 28 church steeples were visible from the trig - on a good day!
