Visited on a days hiking out of Hawes. Great views on the way up and from the trig point. Not the standard concrete pillar, this one is made from local stones and stands at one end of a shelter with seats in a cross shape made from the same stone. Not sure which came first but the pillar blends in to the shelter and I wonder how many visitors to the Peak don't realise the pillar is there? It is in generally good condition but the original centre for the spider has been replaced with concrete or similar. There is also a CBM on a nearby large piece of local stone.
