Not far from zig zag public footpath but freshly ploughed makes it harder. You want the south side of the fence for logging. Mossy top otherwise good condition.

Just followed BW from corner of road until I was close and then pushed bike around filed edge and the tractor had left ridges in the ground that shook me and the bike to pieces, if i tried to ride along them. All in good order. And the day is getting better and better.

(49) Last one of the day. And boy, did this one not want to be found. At least by me, it didn't! Deeply buried in the hedge, and it was all not helped by the fact that my camera phone was nearly out of charge so couldn't risk using the last dregs of power to check it's location. But it was eventually found and bagged. Parked up on the wide grass verge next to the field entrance/bridleway. A decent walk up to where the walkway does a zig-zag, then walked left of that for a full field length, and then part of the way across the next side of the field. As mentioned above, it is deeply buried in the hedge, so photographing it is difficult. But all complete, and a satisfying trig hunt. And plenty of time to take in the commanding views. Pillar history: Built on the 23rd of June 1939, at a cost of 5 11s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in January of 1981.

Joint visit with Carole. Easily accessed and even though situated in the hedge line quite visible at this time of the year. Initially followed bridleway from lane to the west. Then just followed side of field round to pillar. Everything in good order. Original indented lettering plug.
