An impressive viewpoint on a lovely sunny day. The big attraction for a born and bred son of Lancaster was the nearby spring that is the source of the River Lune. It should be better commemerated. Parked near Weasdale Farm and did the excellent Wainwright walk via Hooksey and Randygill Top.Green Bell is one of only four Howgill tops adorned with a pillar.

Strangley the ROW directly north fizzles out fairly quickly and the track a little to the east whilst intially deep rutted and obvious turns into a faint path (almost a sheep trail) before turning to track then faint path again.
