Farmer happy for us to park by his barn at Cloke. Waymarked muddy path. Pillar has a composite disc plugging central tube; all sight holes open. Extensive views.

Hard going from the N over rough pasture and heather moorland, skirting the fields. Levellish heathery moorland ridge.

Mmmm well I'd read dugswell2 log regarding 'Followed a good signed track to summit' and hoped for an easy ascent (from Midhouse), none such luck, nah path, boggy, heathery, holey ground, 6/7 fences and two with a deep ditch in between! I'll be having words with him next time I see him!

It was a nice walk up to the trig point on a warm sunny day. The ground as fine and dry after a good dry spell.

This was a real slog, at least via the amusing bog route which I took... and alas, the views were not nearly so excellent as those at nearby Mid Hill. I can only recommend: (a) using the direct route across the fields (i.e. do _not_ use Glims Moss); or (b) giving this one a miss! I left the bottle of Skullsplitter, figuring that in this instance it was artistic...
