Circular walk from the church at Kentchurch via Garway Hill and Marlas. Used a small gap in hedge about 20 metres east of telegraph pole then skirted back along hedge into next field. Trig has taken a recent knock from hedge trimming equipment and damage to one corner.

Accessed this one as a linear walk along the field boundary east to west. Didn't seem to be any sort of gap in the hedge any more anyhow

Entered the field via the double gate to the west. We were approached by the farmer on a quad bike who asked what we were doing and warned us about trespass but was friendly enough when we explained what we were doing. Trig was very mossy and overgrown in the hedge, and looking very sorry for itself.

I think this pillar was where I had to cross over a barb-wire fence nearly leaving my manhood behind. No views what so ever.

Through thorny hedge into wet & muddy field for a slightly sunken pillar, with the plate on the 'wrong' side. No views, no atmosphere, No fun.

There's a hole in the hedge large enough to gain access very close to the pillar. FB is facing the hedge. Pleasant views from nearby, though not great from the trig itself. A nice easy dusk route back to Kilpeck.

Parking for 1 car on opposite side of road. Trig just visible from road side, but need to access field to view properly. Hedge has had good shearing so pillar stands out from it now. Gained access to field by way of gap in hedge, one strand of b/w at ground level so no problem - missed the gate otherwise would have used that. Pillar is sinking into ground, no sight holes visible & covered with moss; original cap in place. Restricted views to S and SE; other directions obscured by hedgerows.

Easy through double gate or theres a gap in hedge next to road. Pillar surrounded by water so didnt attempt to get up close. Looks a bit messy. Good views to Black M'tains nearby, some snow up there. Started to pour when i got back in the car.

Access is from the double gate to the east and then through the gap in the hedge as a previous logger mentioned. Trig is looking a bit dirty but is in good condition otherwise. Plug is intact too. Second trig on a very cold freezing fog filled morning.

No problem with access - through double gate to East, then gateway into it's field. In corner by (not in) hedge, in uncultivated area.

Almost a roadside pillar just needing 'access' to field where sited. This was not too difficult as it was possible to enter the field to the east through an open gateway and then through a gap in the dividing hedge. Pillar is in the field corner and in good condition retaining an original plug. An uninspiring location.

vgc, metal cap shallow letters. N side of road, S edge, 3m from SE corner of pasture, in thick hedge with FB on S face, accessible from pasture. Was covered in ivy.

We parked at the entrance to the track to Hill Farm Cottage and walked up the inside of the field (it had just been mown and the gate was open). The trig is field side with the FB facing the road, which involved climbing into the hedge - glad I didn't have to get a photo. Plug with heavily indented lettering. When we got back to the car we were looking at maps when the farmer turned up and told us to move on - very friendly! (what would he heve said if he had caught us in the field I wonder).

Good job I'm small. Squeezed through the hedge from the road to the left of a telegraph pole getting stung and scratched in the process. Very overgrown at this time of year. Only just managed to get a picture of the flush bracket.

Despite being by a road, this trig point is embedded in a hedge. difficult to photograph flush bracket. Managed to squeeze through hedge to reach it

A revisit in winter, having failed to find it back in the summer of 2003. Still couldn't read FB as it is embedded in hedge. Fine viewpoint for various other trig sites (Garway Hill, The Skirrid, Sugarloaf etc).

Tautology.. Gwern Field or Gwern-Y-Cae... A reminder that the Saxons trod lightly in Western Herefordshire. But they left their ruddy hedges and the pillar is well and truely buried in one. Amazingly, you can read the plate! I think I would have given up if this roadsider was of the usual orientation, nasty hedges and electric fences abound. This completed a nice little cluster of three contiguous numbers this morning. Heard a cuckoo, worth a point
