Well timed just a few minutes before local sunset with a fine view of all the snowy hills around and the twilight colours in the sky above the Cheviots looking superb already.

This was a straightforward find, just a few yards into a field off the Hadden road. Cap in place with deep lettering, and one s/h open. Enjoyable couple of days in Roxburghshire.

Nice and easy trig to bag close by the road, pretty decent views too. Trig rather overgrown at the moment and we had to wade through knee deep nettles etc to reach it!

I could hear a bird twittering. On closer inspection it was located on the pillar. The June summer growth partially conceals this trig. An easily accessed roadside trig that commands some fantastic views, especially on the longest day of light of the year. Concealed barbed wire fence in undergrowth. First time I have made use of my first aid kit.

First of 8 easy bags today. Gate between the two fields was locked, I tripped over and snagged myself on some old rusty barbed wire in the patchy hedge. Not a great start to what was a very good day. Good all round views.

Just off lane, in hedgeline between wheat and barley fields. Original plug with deeply indented letters. N sighthole open, others closed. Traces of white paint. Lovely views N/S/E. Nice spot.

Vicious horizontal hailstorm, 21/03/2008 one photo then abandoned visit, and returned 9/04/2008. Pillar in good condition, SE side of boundary fence to arable field. Spider retains original OS cap with deep indented lettering. Back sight hole open, others plugged. Flush bracket faces 135°, SE. Historically tertiary station NT72/T41. Completed 11th December 1952. Oldest trig pillar in Secondary Block NT72, Jedburgh. Built 11th December 1952 as a tertiary station.
