Short walk from road up track to water tank. Missed Carlochan Hill 13557 as didn't realise it was a TUMP but you'd probably need to get on top of the reservoir to bag it.

Like others I parked in the gateway to the south and entered field on track through gate. In good condition and still retains an original raised lettered plug. Adjacent to a hilltop reservoir.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 29th July 1955 costing 25.5s.0d. Computed as tertary triangulation station NX56/DM/T26 by distomat survey within the Kirkcudbright block during 1958. Levelled for height also in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in June 1988. SITE VISIT: Carlochan Hill. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces WSW, ~242. NW sight hole plugged, others open.

Trig seemed to be in good condition,and only a short stroll from the single track road below,but views were poor today as low cloud and slight rain,also there was a cattle feeding station very nearby making the ground quite churned up.
