Named as Carlochan Hill on my map! This trig could be one of the easiest ones to get to. Just a short walk up the track to the adjacent water tank. Misty on my visit so no views.

Parked just inside gate off the track and a quick wander up to the trig. Buried in nettles and thistles. Bit hazy so not greatest of views.

Short walk from field gate to SSW, can just about get car off the road. Pillar retains an original centre cap, raised lettering; LHD sight hole appears sealed, other 3 open.

Short walk from road up track to water tank. Missed Carlochan Hill 13557 as didn't realise it was a TUMP but you'd probably need to get on top of the reservoir to bag it.

Not the most strenuous walk from the road . whould have been a great view if not for the poor visibility.

Like others I parked in the gateway to the south and entered field on track through gate. In good condition and still retains an original raised lettered plug. Adjacent to a hilltop reservoir.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 29th July 1955 costing £25.5s.0d. Computed as tertary triangulation station NX56/DM/T26 by distomat survey within the Kirkcudbright block during 1958. Levelled for height also in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in June 1988. SITE VISIT: Carlochan Hill. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces WSW, ~242°. NW sight hole plugged, others open.

Trig seemed to be in good condition,and only a short stroll from the single track road below,but views were poor today as low cloud and slight rain,also there was a cattle feeding station very nearby making the ground quite churned up.

Good condition pillar, flush bracket perfect, spider has letters missing due to weathering. Concrete water tank 10 metres away.
