Log #318. Parked on yellow road north of pillar, walked through unlocked double gates, then another two sets of single gates. Followed line of fence, then beelined for the copse of trees. Pillar is toppled, FB facing up, just north of the treeline. No sign of the bull mentioned on a nearby sign. [ExP-229/MiP-26/Rev-2/BM-20/IS-31/Other-10]

Second visit. For photographs & GPS reading. On northerly sloping grazing field occupied by Highland cattle. Column recumbent but otherwise in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket originally faced 181 (S) but as the pillar has fallen northwards the number faces the sky. Downward sight hole assumed to be open as the three exposed sight holes are all plugged. 180 panoramic northerly view, southern aspect blocked by woods. Revisited 19/11/2011, GRP.

Cap missing, spider and fb intact with visible sights plugged... my suspicions of its toppling lie with the owner of the Big House immediately uphill from the pillar.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 26th August 1946 costing 9.13s.6d. In 1949 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NS77/T151 in the Glasgow secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1968. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1971. Overlooks school. Definitely was not toppled when visited by GRP, 7/08/1989. Sorry no camera with me back then.
