Parked below the the security camera and left my wife and daughter on guard as I took the short walk up the track to what remains of the pillar. Whilst at the trig I could have sworn I heard a gunshot from the housing estate confirmed by the girls when I got back to the car. As with previous visitors I was tracked by the well protected security camera.

Parked in the car park at the junction of Cartmell Drive and Halton Moor Road. You know you're in a rough area when as soon as you get out of the car a CCTV camera is operated from afar and trained on you. God knows what the operator was thinking as they watched me don my boots! Easy stroll to the pillar which is in a sorry state. Someone put a lot of effort into removing the spider. I wonder how much the scrap dealer gave them for it? Not much apparently, as they never returned to take the flush bracket.

Yes, the Halton Moor Trig Point finally bagged complete with Police helicopter over head! Also the lowest Trig Point I've bagged at 47 metres.

I got some new trainers at the weekend, so my old ones are now my trig trainers - useful for Michael Jackson impressions when trigging after work (white trainers, black trousers!). I parked at the marked car park at the top of the hill above the playing fields and followed cycle route 66 through the golf course where I have spent my an hour oblivious to this trig. It is found as soon as Halton Moor Wood ends near the farm track. This route avoids any housing estates and I saw no horses or bikers this evening. Damage to top of trig, plug missing a bit beheaded so to speak. Access was very easy indeed. For one of the best views of Leeds however, try the tee on hole 17.

Approached from Temple Newsam via the golf course and was surprised having looked at previous photos here to find the situation completely different. The horses have given way to horse power, there is hardly any grass, and the field is a racetrack for dirt bikes. It was a warm, dry day and there were clouds of dust as the bikes went round and round the field. The locals (or bandits?) were still friendly. I chatted to a couple of the bikers who thought the trig was possibly where somebody was buried years ago. I briefly explained what it was but I think they still regarded it as a bike rest. The damage on top was useful to rest your handlebars on. Not a place to spend your Sunday afternoons unless your a biker.

Visible and accessible. Just on the outskirts of bandit country. I approached from the Golf Club House along Halton Moor Road by the side of the housing estate - not the best place to be clutching a GPS and have a camera slung over the shoulder apparently. On returning to the car I was told by a resident that it is a common location for break-ins from the local pond life. Anyway, the trig is just off a footpath (track) bheind a pile of rubbish over a broken barbed wire fence. The top of the pillar is badly damaged although surprisingly the flush bracket still remains and three holes are open. Perhaps one of the worst locations I have been to in this game of bagging - give me the open moors any time.
