Handy parking area at the end of the footpath south of the pillar. Nice walk up though the wood with lots of paths not marked on my Landranger. No views but pleasant. The recess cast in the pillar is similar to the one on 11198 Peat Hill which apparently was for some sort of florescent panel used in observations?

One points towards the Wrekin, one towards brown clee hill and the other towards Rodney's pillar. I think they fit into the landscape very well. At last, a fine morning with great views.
