Parked at the West Wood Forestry Commission car park and followed signed footpath to the Drakestone. The walk up through the woods to the Drake stone is delightful. The Drakestone is a massive lump of rock carved and sculpted by elemental forces, and then, sadly and inevitably, graffitted and defaced by morons. From the Drakestone a tough little yomp south over a couple of rocky ridges and through deep heather eventually leads to the TP on top of Cold Law. The views in all directions are terrific, from the North Sea coast in the east to who knows how far to the south west. The Cheviots to the North, the whole of the Otterburn Ranges to the west with the Keilder Observatory on the skyline in the far distance. One of the best view points in all of Northumberland IMHO... A hairline crack on the NW face of the TP is just starting to open up...

Where byway crosses at NT932017 a red flag was flying and i was about to turn back but a local said it was "just a warning" and OK to carry on. So parked as described and it was a lovely walk up. MOD land now extended to east to boundary with open access land.

An easier than expected walk up the footpath from the edge of the forest. Path seems well walked which is a bit odd as it doesn't really go anywhere. Good views especially to the east from the top and also long views to the south and west. A fine spot.

Parked at Harbottle Westwood Car Park and walked the short uphill path to the Drake Stone and Harbottle Lough. Wandered the short distance over the moor to the trig. Weather was lovely, views were good and the flies seemed more interested in the flowering heather than me! Firing ranges were very quiet too, despite the red flags. I reccommend a pint in The Star Inn at Harbottle, surely the smallest pub in Northumberland. Trig still in the same condition as described before.
