My second visit, different route. Parked at Corbie Linn CP and walked up to the fabulous Three Brethren, then W along SUW to the end of the plantation to the N and over a large stile and followed tracks S over Foulshiel Hill before sharp descent to Tibby Tamsons plantation. Good path through the plantation comes out a couple of pasture fields N of the TP. After bagging the Trig we went back to look for Tibby Tamson's grave (really tragic story behind this, worth looking it up). 8.6 miles, 1,400 ft ascent, 2 great Trig Points, wonderful views, fab weather - a brilliant day out with Ceri Evans.

Descended south to Harehead Wood then followed track and field’s eastwards to the Montrose Plantation and down road to the car.

Parking and route as beckroad. Follow the posts with the red arrows which will take you straight to the open fields along the main track. Took a round about route back via some of the old logging tracks. Last one of the day and the rain stayed away so its all good.

Parked at Corby Linn car park. A lovely walk through Traquair Plantation. A gate allows access onto open pasture. Followed the wall south. Reminds me of the Sound of Music. Fabulous location and great views. Philphaugh Estate provide a red sign trial through the woods as well as a seat next to pillar to ponder. South side of pillar shows evidence of flaking.Spider is intact. Last vestige of a whitewash colour.

Route from Corbylinn car park, more or less due W along fine track, steepening up through Traquair Plantation up onto rough pasture. On leaving the plantation follow the wall round as the TP is on the W side of the wall, else cut a corner and go through a gate then turn half R and go through a broken gate just below the TP. Really fantastic views, maybe because the weather was so good and the air clarity really clear, but I think the views are better than from nearby and much higher Three Bretheren. The bench to rest your weary or unfit body on by the wall is worth an extra point BTW...!

A nice walk up the tracks through the woodland from the Corbylinn car park to the east. Fantastic views in all directions from the top - the purple glow of the heather on the nearby Three Bretheren was spectacular when the sun caught it. Minor damage to the concrete on the southern face, no doubt frost damage.

Lovely walk through the woods and fields from Philiphaugh visitor centre. Very impressed with the 360 degree panoramic views from the trig, and very thoughtful of the landowner to place a bench beside the trig, ideal for our lunch stop :)
