Had a walk out with my cousin while our wives went to a garden centre. Got dropped off at the driveway to Higher Barn and walked along the PROW to the FP leading through the fields to the east. Followed the Mast service track to the Reservoir then looked around the compound where we looked for the best way in. Eventually saw an opportunity hidden behind some heavy nettle growth. Beat it away and clambered over, cousin didn't fancy it so he kept guard as there were a few dog walkers and other walkers. Great views over the Lancashire planes and over to Pendle Hill. Exited compound and carrried on to look at the ruined windmill. Returned to the road and pick up point along the FP and then driveway through Harrocks Hall grounds. Beer in the White Lion at Wrightington afterwards.

A pleasent 3.3 mile walk with free parking, easy trespass if your conscience lets you & a ruinous windmill...Lay-by parking on High Moor Lane just after the public right of way. Took the PROW North/North East making a right turn to cross a low well trampled wire fence & follow the narrow well mudded path to the wood & change of direction in the 6ft compound fencing. 'Roughing-it' through the undergrowth, 9 concrete fence posts in from the corner there's a 'hole' in the meshing that could quite easily be gotten through. Continuing in a North Westerly direction with a right then left turn to follow field fences, the remains of a windmill on Harrock Hill can be visited. Proceeding West a circular route can be made through turns made into Jackson's, Bannister's & High Moor Lane's. The trig point is viewable from outside the 6ft fencing but I couldn't 'make out' the flush bracket number with my 8X21 binos consequence of indistinct numerals...In my books a trig viewed from 20 foot or so still goes down as a 'bag'!

Visited after an appointment at Wrightington Hospital, 3 hours later it was absolutely chucking it down. I was not in the mood to negoitiate a high fence or spikey gate in the pouring rain, so peered and confirmed all looks well in the compound. Dedicated to the orthopaedic consultant that I saw in the morning. We have set out a plan and moving forward. Excellent orthopaedic department and staff.

Circular walk from Hunters Hill quarry, past the ruined windmill. Trig is behind fenced area but clearly visible. Lovely walk, 1hr 48 with kids, 3.87mi.

Parked in layby before start of PROW on High Moor Lane, South of Pillar. Access into compound on path side at point were 2 slanted posts meet an upright post, and two holes in fence provide an easy foothold over and back out. Pillar in great nick, OS cap in place, one sight hole open. There is a Berntsen near the gate, but no OS markings on the outer lip/ring as others do, so probably not an OS benchmark. Nice circular walk of the area taking in the ruins of an old windmill near Harrock Hill.

The final trig in my immediate vicinity that I hadn't visited. Hoped I could find my way in through the fence as others have done but not on this occasion. Got a nice view of it though. Nice views up here.

Sadly the trig is behind a Water company fence and sits on top of an underground reservoir. I suspect the trig has been moved as it seems to be to one side of the roof. Also, I don't think the Water Company building existed when the trig was erected. Very similar trig to the one at Brinscall, Lancs. Trig is in good condition

Having logged this trig before. I spotted something on a return visit, that got me wondering. Is the trig point in it's original position. The reason I ask is because there is a marker close to the trig that says "Survey monument - Do not disturb" Is this the original position of the trig and not where it is now? Anybody shed any light on this...

Parking at S end of Sanderson Lane. trig sits atop a small covered reservoir with low security fencing which is easily negotiated next to the gate, which is spikey and not to be negotiated (by me anyway). The FB faces the fencing, so can be photographed with a decent zoom lens. Pillar retains an original centre cap, lightly indented lettering; rear sight hole open; BSM-style FB. Extensive views.

Parked near High Moor restaurant and walked through Harrock estate - very pleasantly surprised by the scenery and views. Glorious views from the trig area sweeping all the way round the northern part of the skyline. Tris itself unreachable behind high fence of reservoir compound

From Hill House Fold -I was asked to park to the right of the Gate-followed track up to the Trig which sits on top of an enclosed resr easy access through the gate which was unlocked ( the chain was wrapped around it but not locked ) The Trig is in good condition with an original cap and one open sight hole, view blocked to east by trees

inside 6ft reservoir fence. probably accessible by the athletic. wish I'd had my double ladder with me or even my rather heavy concertina carry ladder, but had to stay satisfied with view from fence. I'm not. grrrrr

Great views back to Winter Hill and of the sunset. Work going on and we arrived while gates were open and security guard was puzzled but allowed us in to the trig and to photograph the sunset.

Did this one on way back from open match on High Heyes fisherie Eccleston,parked at the end of tarmac road up track to res climbed over chain link fence at 13th post there is a foothold here. Trig in vgc original plug shallow lettering great views here to fylde area and winter hill.

Clearly in view on top of reservoir only a few feet from security fence. There was a good gate for the footpath by the farm, so I was able to take the bike through and cycle all the way up the access track.

Followed PROW from end of Hill House Lane up to reservoir compound.Found a farmers low loader against fence so jumped the fence from that.Was feeling very pleased for tigging a tough one when a water authority van passed me on the way back - close shave!!

Highly visible but inaccessible. I used the driveway path towards Harrock Hall from High Moor Lane then enclosed path to reservoir. I got as near as the Water Board fencing would allow. Looks to be in very good condition as it should be when it so well protected.

Very wet morning, and found Trig inside the fencing. No sign of an access point and didn't fancy scaling the fence & trespassing so settle for closest point maybe 10m away
