met the lady at high ground, although the pillar is not on her land she showed us the way and advised there might be walls to climb, crossed a couple of gates and a convenient vulnerable wire fence which is easy to squeeze through, through another rickety gate via untieing the rope ,this was the last hurdle,it was then a relatively short slog to the pillar!

All intact. Very windy with drizzle. Friendly farmer pointed the way. Don't follow the footpath behind the farmhouse - instead go down the track to the next farm back, cross the cattle grid and turn right, heading up the hill to the trig.

He didn't seem to want to be very helpful, but his wife said there was a concrete thing on a nearby hill and it would be alright to go up. The pillar with part of its base exposed is sited on a tussocky summit.
