Haw Cliff Top-pled. Such a pity as it's in a fantastic location with spectacular views. I followed the directions of MickSan by parking at New Biggin Farm. Left up the PRoW and to the broken stile. In order to create a circular walk I headed SE down a steep hill. I found a cairn built like a tower (see pic) hidden away. I added a rock to it then back to the car.

A circular walk from Snowgate Head, approached the pillar from the path/lane junction NE of Biggin then jumped a few fences. I didnt research this pillar, so got to the wind turbines and was devastated to find it missing. A quick gander in the proximity found it "dumped" with silage etc. Would have been in good condition if in situ. It appears it was removed between 09.2015 and 04.2016. This is one of two pillars that I am gifting to funeral parlours, they must be raking the money through no fault of their own.

Having previously walked this area, it seemed unlikely to me that the farmer would go to the trouble of dragging this off a steep, gorse-filled hillside, so I assumed from the two previous logs that this pillar had been broken up on site or was hidden/buried. It turned out to be the latter. The pillar is toppled, in exactly the same position as previous logs (not far at all from its original spot) but has been covered with 6-7ft of rotten silage and manure. I looked around for a stout stick or old fence post, but none were forthcoming, so I rolled up my sleeves and went in. The rot on top stinks. It's full of mushrooms, worms, flies and god-knows-what. I was stood in manure, scraping away with bare hands for 30 mins before giving up. I managed to reveal part of the spider, but it needs someone to pop up with a shovel and some water and really give it a go. Sadly, as per previous logs, it would seem that it is laying on its flush bracket. Glad to see it alive, but christ the smell...

East-facing sighting hole open, others closed; plug replaced by plastic cover; minor cracks at top of pillar but not enough to rate as 'slightly damaged'. A quiet spot, with hazy views across scattered villages towards Holme Moss.

30th anniversay of surviving 300 shotgun pellets in the belly from 9 feet across the landing. Nice peaceful anniversary. At this time 1970 I was prob still under sedation following life saving surgery. Numerologically this is also my son Jamie's 58th birthday trig. I expect I'll be long gone before 1/7/2058!! or I'll be nearly 106!!
