Route and parking as BigJ. Still blowing a gale, taken to driving between trigs in full waterproofs and dealing with the wet seat tomorrow!!

Nice easy walk in along the track to the south west. Fantastic views in most directions on a gloriously clear afternoon. Ashkirk and Selkirk transmitter masts visible in the distance, and we could just make out the mobile phone masts on Meigle Hill near Galashiels far away to the north west. There the remains of at least 4 old army (?) huts within a couple of hundred yards of the trig

Pillar in very good order, base has a red brick surround, probably added to combat subsidence into bog. Spider has a replacement OS centre cap with shallow engraved letter which pre-dates a pillar of this vintage. FB faces ESE across track. LHS sighting hole open, others plugged. Land used for grazing. Views to Hummelknows, Eildon Mid Hill, Minto Hill, Black Hill NT72, Carter Fell, Southdean Law, Fanna Hill, Penchrise Pen, Skelfhill Pen.
