My first log. I live at High Barn and have always been fasinated by the trig at the top of the hill, recently started geocaching and glad to see theres a similar sport for trigs. The lads that work on the farm arn't the tidiest so if the smell/muck is an issue the offical footpath skirts the western edge of the farm (but otherwise feel free to walk though and say hello). We don't have the HUGE German Shepherd(Max) anymore but does occasionally come to visit our Collie pup(Badger). For ease of access and pig smells I would recommend parking on the side of the A61, North of the trig. Walking down the bridleway, fork right past Hay Park(the concrete area used by local farmers to dump crops and spuds), up the track and round to the trig.

Visible and easily accessible being at side of footpath. Like others I came up from the road to the south of High Barn. But, unlike others I did not go through the farmyard as the map would suggest that the footpath skirts to the west of the farm. Either way it is just a case of following the track up to the pillar which is highly visible. Some reasonable views from this elevated location.
