Trig should be in, what is now, a landfill site. Spoke to man who had been working there for 17 years and had never seen or heard about it. He would not allow me to check actual site for safety reasons, because of the methane gas vents, but the whole area is now a smooth grassy hill. Def gone.

Now a landfill site. No sign of trig - site covered with mounds of soil/clay

Parked on A29 at Lidsey. Took PROW for 500m W until it was diverted. Had to follow new path due N until trig was directly to the W, then trespassed into new landfill site. Pillar found to be almost engulfed in brambles, nettles etc at edge of wide dirt road used by the many large earth moving vehicle that were present (but not in use on this quiet Saturday). Pillar is also leaning badly and is partially buried. Cleared a fair bit of vegetation from front and sides, but rear remains inaccessible. Original cap in place. No views.

Slightly damaged 6th Sep 2012  18:17  by Griefmiester

I don't hold out much hope for this one, it appears to be inline for an expansion of the landfill site, I have had a look for this one a few times over the years and each time it's circumstances look to of changed, the last time i looked a few weeks ago and was unable to find it, it was somewhere in a huge hedge, today this hedge has been chopped down to pillar height and looks to me if it is going to be removed alltogether. I approached for the South East and parked at the road junction at Lidsey then along the footpath (which is diverted from that shown on OS map) after you have crossed the drive to landfill site along the other half of the footpath along a high fence, after 500 yrd (approx) there is a high gate, which you can easily slip past then along the track for 100m (approx) to the pillar, it is leaning now and is located a few meters past the gap as you head to the power line pole. The landfill is agressively private so I opted for an evening "raid" after it was closed.

My second attempt to get to this but no joy. This now sits in the middle of the private Landfill site and all gates are locked. THe diverted footpath mentioned in previous years is now diverted well away from the Trigs site. The track to the trig is there and I show it in my photo, but as the site was in busy use I could not risk a climb over. This is a trespass trig that could only be reached (if it is still there) when the Landfill site is shut and noone is working there. Me

Trig is up there somewhere!

Made a dusk visit to bag this one, 3rd time lucky for us. Buried deep in brambles. Push past gate against the fence on the left, walk up path and trig is on the right opposite the opening to the compound on the left. We broke down the brambles.

Couldn't find it 26th Jul 2008  13:30  by PHMB

I hadn't looked at the other logs but having done so subsequently I would say I was in the right place but the brambles were ridiculously thick and even prodding with a piece of wood didn't find it. Try again one day I guess.

Buried in hedge of bambles, could not get to flush bracket. Good condition metal plug. In middle of landfill site. Gate on footpath locked but managed to squeeze through fence by side of gate. No much going for this one.

vgc, metal cap shallow letters. 2nd time lucky. N edge of track, in thick robust brambles. 50m E of N-S path, although 80m according to LR, 60m according to 25k:-( 12m E of transformer pole, 2m W of chainlink fence corner opposite. Took a while to find; local lady walking dog assured me it was still there! Approach from SE impassable due to bramble & shoulder-high nettles; walked in from SU924051.

We parked at Lidsey and followed the disused canal before taking the diverted footpath (due to the landfill site) which takes you right past the trig. Even at this time of year it took a bit of finding - very overgrown with brambles. It is on the north side of the track and very close to the fence with the partially buried FB facing south, thankfully. Plug with indented lettering.
