Walked up from the Golf Club and soon arrived at the trig. Slightly damaged due to the centre plug missing, good views all around from up here. Also found a few Geocaches and a YOSM Cache while I was here.

Approached from the North having called at the Brown Wardle site first. A detour from the PRoW at the pylon brings you to the pillar which today had cows in the vicinity. Reasonable views, Pillar seen better days. A pleasant evening and an enjoyable 8 mile circular walk from Dearnley.

5 mile walk starting at Water Grove res. Got to the trigd through the golf course from East to west. Bit boggy in places. Could see the towers over in Manchester and some of the surrounding pennines.

The 3rd of 4 pillars visited today. I came up from the north over the presently closed golf course then continued south back onto the Rochdale Way. You can make Rochdale town out by the mosques and minuets. Only visited the bus interchange in this town, but dump and third world comes to mind. I have to give Lidl the pillars today, people are so deprived of excitement at the moment they are visiting the store for a "day out".

Solo. Parked near Lobden Golf Club, Clubhouse (OL12 8XJ). Pennine Bridleway passed the clubhouse as far as Meadow Head Farm, then up to trig pt following the line of pylons.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 27th February 1948 costing £12.6s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SE02/T18 during 1949. Levelled for height to Class 1 precision at tertiary standards in 1956. Last maintainedby the OS in October 1979. SITE VISIT: Approached from north. Parked by junction of tracks at SD891175. Best route is via the mapped RoW which skirts the west side of the golf course until the green becomes rough then follow under the pylon line to the top. Open moor mapped as access land, just outside golf course. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces NNW, compass measurement 329°. All sight holes open, innards blocked with debris. Full 360° panoramic view.

From the junction of Shawclough Lane and the A671 up Ending Rake and the PBW before heading directly up the hill towards the Pylons . The trig is situated between two pylons on a Grazing top which was occupied by Horses , It is in Good Condition with fading white paint, the Cap is open .All SH are open and the FB faces 330 , views 360 similar return

Bagged this one after scaling Inchfield Moor and the cairn-in-place-of Trig Point on Brown Wardle Hill on a 13.4 mile circular walk from Walsden. A tiring walk indeed but the weather was great for November, a bit boggy underfoot though. This one is on the edge of a golf course, so watch out when trying to bag it! No plug. Public. Access Land. Easy walk over from Brown Wardle - follow Pennine Bridleway past golf course & round west side of Rushy Hill. Then it's a short walk up to the flat grassy summit - horses on this one, plus the ubiquitous power lines.

Out with my walking group - The Irregulars, LDWA - and our route passed nearby so the opportunity for melch and myself to detour to this pillar was just too good not to miss. We approached from the Pennine Bridleway to the west and simply followed the line of pylons to the summit. Pillar in good condition although the plug has gone walkabout leaving the pillar open to the elements. Another nice location on edge of moorland golf course.

Walked up pennine bridalway from Healey corner on main road junction. About halfway up head direct for 2nd pylon on right walking across good dry moorland. Trig in vgc sited next to pylon open top ,fine views.

Wet through, rain on the lens, crap walk, otherwise OK! Pillar under the pylons, up from a very tatty golf course. No plug, otherwise OK. Private, probably.

Trigs as stated previously although it is actually away from the golf course on the open moor (Rushy Hill). It was a lousy day today in the weather department so visibility was poor - the ball & stick brigade were notably absent at the time of my visit, a hardy breed the ball belters !!!!.

Situated on edge of Lobden golf course. Easy to find by following line of pylons. Probably a trespass but no harm done. Sheep was grazing one of the tees when I visited.

The trig is on Rushy Hill which is a flat topped stony hill with a row of pylons. Trig is next to highest pylon. Good views.
