Extremely easy pillar located a few yards from the roadside in an overgrown little patch of access land disected by the road; we parked in the handy layby and quickly hopped through the dead bracken and brambles. The pillar is a bit battered, with some spalling to the top face and a replacement cap. Pillar #84 for my little helper.

A quick morning run after the school dropoff to find the pillars at Heath Common, Walton Lane and Chevet Common. Luckily the bracken had died back a little here, so access wasn’t really an issue. The trig point is in great condition and is visible from the main road.

Parked in lay-by near the busy junction for a very short walk to the pillar. Fortunately most of the undergrowth had died back. The pillar is in good condition albeit the original spider centre has been replaced with a plain disc.

First one of the day, easy find just a few meters from the busy road. All the Brambles and ferns have died back over winter making it easy to see and get to Plug missing (nowt new there ) could do with a lick of paint

Trig is fairly good condition and easy to find close to roadside. Good parking in a near by layby or a transport company trailer parking area. Not too bad to reach in April but this could be a bit tricky later in the year when the brambles, bracken ect starts to over grow round it

As others have said, in the midst of thick bracken even in December. Whichever way you approach you will be thinking "there must be a better way than this", but there isn't. Good car parking in layby near road junction. Unfortunately spoiled by a litter bin which it appears Wakefield Council last emptied in 1984.

(1377) Parked at the little lay-by on Oakenshaw Lane. Pillar very visible and easily reached as bracken etc all low lying. Pillar in good condition - non original plug though. Painted white and certainly stands out amongst all the green and brown. Pillar history: Built on the 27th of June 1947, at a cost of £9 3s 2d. Last maintained by the OS in August of 1985.

Easy to locate and access now, but the bracken is growing. Visited while on a Durham to Dorset walk on a nice sunny day, spoiled only by the constant stream of traffic on the nearby road. Heath village, just up the hill is worth a look.

On walk with my mate Tracker Dog along canal of Trans Pennine Trail from Royston and got this easy trig. Easy to see, it's painted white, paths lead up to it presumably from other triggers. Bracken surrounds it, glad to get it in winter. Views not inspiring.

During a drive into Wakefield I took the opportunity to bag this trig - one of the closest to where I live. Parked in the truck loading bay beside this little corner of bracken and marched through the undergrowth to the trig. Still accessible in early April, though in a month's time I don't expect many trigpointers will be logging this one, certainly not till the middle of autumn when the scrub dies back - it really is in amongst it, with bushes and bracken everywhere. Will be utterly lost from view by the summer months. No great view in any direction, but the trig is in excellent condition and appears to have been recently painted.

Accessed from Oakenshaw Lane through shoulder high bracken mixed in with a few nettles. Luckily the trig is on a patch of high ground with a thick white coat of paint, so is easily visible. No views.

Not an easy one to visit at this time of the year. Defended by head high bracken making access without a machete very difficult. The recent coat of paint has helped finding it though but I was almost on top of it when I spotted it. Definitely one to visit in autumn, winter or spring but not in the height of summer. The pillar itself is in good condition but has a resin plug. The only view today was bracken.

Didn't think I could walk here and back from home, but did today. Easy access today, felt a bit more private than it actually is too. Interesting location, hiding away really.

Despite being only 80ft from the road it is a complete nightmare to get to at this time of the year and I only spotted it when I was within a few feet of it.

On slight rise by side of A638, easily visible from road in flattened bracken. Plastic plug, damage to concrete on top. Views towards wakefield but otherwise limited.

Top, plastic cap and facing around spider cracking up. As previous entry by SUE_C, do not go at this time of year ~ or be prepared for some serious scrub bashing. GPS GR on the day. Anyone looking for a minor epic at this time of year, I have included a direction finding picture.

See MAC.HAWKS Sept 2005 entry. The moral of this is, for easy access dont visit this trig in late summer. It wasnt even visible from the road today, totally buried under the foliage.

Walked to trig from parking on nearby lay-by. Trig is visible from the road. Easy enough access over the bracken but could be a problem later on in the year. Placed a geocache close-by.

Easy parking in layby on minor road west of trig. Trig visible from road just now as bracken is still dead a pretty much flattened down so access easy. There is a little bit of damage to the top but I'm not sure if it warrants re-classifying the condition??

Parked on minor road. Walked back to junction and up verge to right for about 50yds. trig visible about 20yds to R among trees

Located a few meters from road side no problem to located this time of year as no bracken - pillar in good condition, apart from modified cap. no views to speak of.

Only just visible today from the minor road at the west due to the the fern. No path and it was a right old struggle through the head high ferns and some lethal low level brambles. Have cleared some of the vegetation around the trig itself so it's now a little more visible.
