Fly capital of the UK or what? 3 days on Barra and other islands but this hill only one where midge net would've been better off on me rather than in the hostel! Approached from N straight up steep heather clad rocky slopes. Pleasant walk off E along ridge to tumps. Pillar found in good condition with very smooth screed finish; cap missing, no plug; 1 sight hole open. Extensive views N-NE to Barra and S-SW to other Bishop's Isles.

Had time to kill waiting for the ferry from Castlebay so went for a wander. Weather unkind and no views from the top (lovely blue sky by the time I got back!). Cap is missing.

A relaxing day spent exploring Vatersay at my own pace. I approached the pillar from the west after going to see the tidal island. Views from the top were nice, but not quite as good as on other hills in the area. I took a direct steep northeast line down to the road, which was less than ideal.

Should be a good view but was claggy. Lovely campsite below the hill, until the wind changed and we got the full benefit of a decomposing pilot whale from down the beach. Boggy hill, reached by an interesting ferry crossing in those days.
