Nearly 30 yrs ago I walked the Saints Way from Padstow to Fowey. Helman tor was the highlight of the route and so it was again today. An excellent example of the genre. For anyone driving to the parking area under the tor, I recommend to are comfortably able to reverse along narrow lanes.

Good parking due S at end of minor road. Short walk up to this lovely tor with the pillar almost at the high point. All 4 top edges are badly chipped, there's also a chunk out of one vertical edge and some deep engraving on one side. Centre cap missing, no plug; LHD side sight hole open, RHD side plug degrading. Extensive panoramic views.

Circular run from Lanhydrock. I’ve been up this Tor in the past when I’ve done the Saints Way trail (Padstow to Fowey) but now I’m a trig point bagger!! Great views and granite rock formations.

Parked on narrow road to car park and followed path up through the cows ascending the summit from the west. From some directions trig looks like a hard rock climb to ascend but in reality, it is actually very easy slope. A few others about. Earlier that day we bagged Hensbarrow Beacon trig and later on we drove around to the Gilbert Monument in Bodmin.

Bagged as part of a saints way circular walk. Amazing views from the top. In the summer months it's best to go early morning or in the evening to avoid the crowds.

Excellent trig with great views to Bodmin Beacon, Roughtor, and Hensbarrow. A great tor for a stop at on the Saints Way.

Our first trig in Cornwall and our first visit to the county since 1987. A very interesting locality. Somewhat apprehensive about driving to this one, the amount of rubber on the tarmac suggested heavy vehicles travelling too fast ! Car park is OK, rocky base. Met an octogenarian couple from Cheshire up at the pillar. Great views all around, a lovely morning.

A very nice trig, although the pillar itself is a little damaged, with signs of graffiti on it. Lovely panoramic views from here, plus there is a logan stone.

Wish I had seen the last report before driving up to this one. By the time we got to the last bit it was too late to turn around. Worth it when we got there. Amazing views and a lovely easy walk. Trig is perched on a pile of huge rocks.

Onwards from Roselath to a vg lunch at the Crown in Lanlivery, thence back up the Saints' Way to our car and this trig. According to some locals, we were lucky to get our car up the road as it gets overgrown by vegetation in high summer - you have been warned! Stunning panoramic views - sun shining on us but black as night over Brown Willy, very atmospheric. Plastic cap, damage to one corner, E s/hole open, otherwise good condition and painted very white!

The pillar stands on top of a rocky tor on a hill to the south of Bodmin. The hill was accessed directly from the adjacent car park. The pillar is painted white and has a large chunk missing from its side. It has FB S7862 and its spider is plugged with a blank disc. The trig has an impressive view. It looks over rolling green hills toward the coast in the south. The spoil tips from the clay pits can be seen in the southwest and hill top wind farms are in the northwest. The high moors of Bodmin are to the northeast. The hill has been designated a scheduled monument for its hillfort, hut circles and field system. The Logan stone is close to the trig; the information board on the path from the car park helps with its identification.

The road up to the car park is very narrow and in places flooded across half of the road,but the views from the trig point are excellent.

Autumn break in Cornwall for the week and Helman Tor was reachable from our holiday cottage nearby. Weather was a bit dull and rainy on finding it, but well worth it.

Trig on top of a nice rocky tor, would have a good view on a clear day, but it was dull and drizzly. worth driving up the narrow road to a carpark though, and short uphill. Pillar slightly damaged, sides and top, plus no plug. But the rock scrambling adds interest

Took narrow country lanes to car park and walked up to TP in thick mist. TP painted white, plug filled, and some old damage to top. As I was about to leave the mist started to burn off, slowly revealing extensive views, with some fantastic cloud effects. Magic.

Wonderful landscape of tors, very atmospheric. A bit windy today but fine views nonetheless. Some great rocks here that look like chairs and a huge one that you can move by rocking it!
