Another fantastic location for a trig. Spectacular views (It must have looked magnificent pre Refinery, M56 and windfarms). This one seems to get it's fair share people wanting to write on it. Some kind of wishy washy 'love and peace baby' idealism daubed this time. I quite liked it Green (but definitely in a minority of 1 if previous logs are to go by).

As with others, a short walk up from Helsby Quarry Nature Reserve car park. Trig now has 'acceptable?' graffiti in the form of a poem/thought for the day of sorts - see pic.

On the way home from a jolly in rural Wales and decided to do 1 more stop. Found the Quarry Carpark and set off up Hill Road South in fading light. Didn't know what to expect, so loved it when the woods gave way to a rocky platform. From there you could see Stanlow, in all it's industrial glory and the River Mersey Estuary. Just loved the setting of pillar, cliff edge and interesting view.

On my way to my son and his family. I parked in Helsby, a sprawling small town, and walked up through pleasant enough woodland to the top. The views are good, dominated by the River Mersey and the industry of Ell3smere Port.

A pleasant mostly tree-lined ascent to the trig, with today quite misty views over to industrial Ellesmere Port with things shimmering in the haze. Lots of graffiti carved on to the soft rock of Helsby; also the pillar, which surprisingly stills possesses its original cap with raised lettering, and one sight-hole open. Also splodges of paint evident. Drove for over five hours from east Scotland to here, and the temperature increased from 13 to 29 degrees centigrade during that time. Phew!

To reach this trig point park in the layby near Harmers Wood and walk up the lane and through the gate at the top. The bear right and head up hill past the Danger Cliffs sign. From the top there are spectacular views over to Wales and The Wirral.

Parked at Tesco and walked up - good job as the Quarry car park was full. Hill Road South climbs up to the short footpath to the top of this impressive hill. Quite a few people were enjoying the sun, but the pillar was left for me to bag and take in the views from this famous sandstone escarpment. Nice view over the Mersey, Liverpool skyline and Clwydian Range mixed with the industry associated with this area. Pillar looking good still thanks to Dugswell's paint job. Wish I'd had a bit more time to explore really, a visit is recommended.

Parked on Bates Lane, and then took the public right of way from Old Chester Road up to the pillar on top of Helsby Hill. Been past Helsby Hill on many occasions when travelling along the M56 between junctions 13 and 14. From the pillar, you have a clear view of the Stanlow Oil Refinery, the Manchester Ship Canal , the Mersey Estuary, and Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Challenging conditions under foot in terms of the journey to and from the pillar - extremely muddy and slippery.

From the old quarry car park due S. Pillar sits on slabby sandstone rocks overlooking River Mersey mud flats. It sports a very tatty coat of badly chipped green paint overlaying other thick coats of chipped paint, but otherwise looks ok. An original centre cap is retained, raised lettering; RHS sight hole open; BSM-style FB. Extensive misty views W & SW.

(Not sure of the date.) Parked in the old quarry car park and did a quick circuit of that, (quite dull), before heading upwards. Now here's the twist. We went anti-clockwise. The far side is very lush with a fair smattering of gated properties. You know. The kind of place Jose might have bought. Anyway, heading back we hit the sights you might expect, a rocky top, (I did visit here to climb once but as I recall most holds came off in my hand! Sandstone!), with extensive views of ... the motorway and the refinery ... but the estuary and the cathedrals too. And it was a lovely sunny day. Sat outside an OK pub in Frodsham, (nice place), in blazing sunshine.

A hill that had been on my to-do list for quite a few years and one that I must have passed by dozens of times on journeys into and out of England. Intriguing views to be had in every direction on this fine but freezing cold winter day.

FB is partially obscurred with many layers of paint. The pillar has been blue, red, white and currently a weather beaten green. Adjacent to the pillar is a destoyed bolt. SD30 025 BOLT Destroyed 07/69. The reported position SJ49207 75433 is covered in grass although large areas of bedrock are in evidence nearby. Iron age fort adjacent. Whilst here a tanker escorted by two tugs passed TP11440 Weston Marsh which we had visited earlier in the day.

Out on a walk from Frodsham and our route took us directly passed this pillar. So, the opportunity to visit it was just too good not to miss. Very accessible and highly visible. To me the pillar has been somewhat spoiled by the thick painting that has obliterated much of the detail of the flush bracket and the plug. But, what the heck, it is still there to be visited. Wonderful viewpoint of the surrounding area. Today we were lucky and could see for ever.

parked in south hill road - + walk up to green? pillar. good views. Accessible ROC post 30 metres back from trig. Seems like popular location for (peaceful) youths on my visit .-.-.-. after visit continued on to frodsham edge where there is a war memorial easily visible from motorway, and previous home to wood helter skelter on the edge of the cliff (burned down yonks ago) - but no trig ;-)
