Pleasant walk up from the viaduct. There is currently a path to the trig, rather round the back but leads off the main path. Cap intact. Sight holes open, and bolt visible.

Easy to locate, but not always to access. Surrounded on virtually all sides by thick bramble. I saw the pillar 10 minutes before I was able to find a way up to touch it. Still it was a clear day with some good views, and there was a small sense of achievement at the end of it all.

Arrived in rain and darkness, nice views of distant lights. Escaped the moor before the arrival of Storm Angus where down in the shelter of Plymouth Yacht Haven we were lashed by a deluge of rain driven by 30mph winds. A good November day.

This is my second nearest trig and I've previously tried to find it before finding this web site - newly remotivated I thought I'd tackle it again. As previous entrants have said, the location is totally overgrown with bramble and blackthorn. Eventually got to within what my reliable GPS told me was 4m away but could get no nearer and couldn't see it. I will return with secateurs! Update 1/12/08 Returned with secateurs ! Wasn't quite where I thought it was and so had slightly easier access than I expected - found at last.

vgc, metal cap, shallow letters, BSM style FB. At highest point, in dense tangle of blackthorn & bramble. Head to S end of summit area, W to large holly tree, then N a few m to trig. A bit of pruning to ease the way. From SW, good path to summit, dashed down as the forecast rain had finally arrived. Quick escape via A38. Just 2 pillars left to do on LR202.

Hmmmm - well, after a dull walk in dull weather up the footpath from the SW, I reached the summit, complete with rusty old wheelbarrow bucket, and looked long and hard into all the nearby blackthorn/bramble bushes, but I couldn't see anything trig-like. I'm sure it's there, but with no GPS and only a 1:50,000, I was pushing my luck. Even with a GPS, you'll need a heavy-duty strimmer to reach this one!

The highest point of the summit. I think it's in that blackthorn!

We parked in Ivybridge just past a railway arch and eventually found the path up through the woods from there. The trig has now been completely taken over by blackthorn, although there is a bit of a 'tunnel' leading to the trig which I managed to crawl down. I'm glad I did'nt have to photograph the FB as it would have been certain death by thorns. Shane nearly trod on a small snake near the trig (slow worm by her description), she's never got back to the car so quick! Plug with indented lettering.
