(3448) Layby on Downham Road currently closed, so parked just inside Crimplesham and walked back. Pillar just about visible from Stow Barn Road. Access into the field not difficult but not especially easy either. A ditch needs to be cleared first. Field seemingly a mixture of crop and weed. With easily spooked Deer amongst it. But pillar soon reached, and all in fairly decent condition. Centre cap missing and has been infilled. GPS plaque attached to the FB side of the pillar. Pillar history: Build date, and cost not listed in the records, as per usual for primary pillars. Last maintained by the OS in 1981.

Managed to squeeze the car onto the grass verge by Stow Barn Road and made my way through the ditch into the field. Pillar was becoming engulfed by long grasses but otherwise easy to get to. Unremarkable views all around, but at least I get to tick another one off.

Viewable from Stow Barn Road, but difficult while the weeds/crops are almost as tall as the pillar. It is along the northern edge of the field about 80 -1 100 yards from Stow Barn Road.

Easy walk from lay-by on main road then along Stow Barn Rd. Trig point can be seen from the road and easily reach along field edge.

"nasty ditch, parking at the turning off the main road" just about echos me feelings. Except to add muddy puddles surrounding this at my visit. Forgot photo of plug - still has GPS plaque. (logging in Oct07 from photos only!)

It looks easy to reach from the lane north of the A1122 but beware of the ditch which is not easy to cross.
