From pillar walked along to Standing stone and made way down to the pennine way path. Near large boxes. At T junction, straight ahead to Widdop road which is a wide road suitable for parking.

Parked at Widdop Gate and walked SW up the reservoir access road until heading directly up the hill alongside the catchwater channel. Crossing the catchwater followed a not very frequently used path between wall and fence to the old ruin of a building. At this point, a heavy slog through tussock grass crossing PW to reach the pillar. Trig sat within its own stone circle, good views, picking out Stoodley Pike to the SE. Plug removed, cap fitted. All other metal work intact. Return via same route. Done with PL

From the west along the Pennine Bridleway just before Reaps Bottom a faint path heads east uphill to the trig. From the Pennine Way to the north (just south of King Common on the OS map) an obvious path takes you pretty close to the trig and from the south (today's route) just follow the ROW to the east of Popples Farm and continue up the open moor to find the trig.
