Lovely scenic walk in changeable weather up the broad clear grassy path from Kington , past a bizarre clump of monkey puzzle trees and a small herd of wild ponies, then off the path for around 100m of rough pasture to the pillar, which is in good condition, metalwork in place, but today had an orienteering punch and sign tied to the top ! The views are panoramic, well worth the walk.

Then there's the monkey trees, from here a pilgrimage of sorts to the wonderful Dore Abbey and the amazement of Kilpeck.
