Accessed from roadside gate at low end of field; thus no barbed wire encountered. Field is small, fallow, and very overgrown with grass, bracken, and nettles, which hides the uneven nature of the ground, particularly by the gate. Pillar at summit of large mound, right in front of a steep drop, nestled amongst a lot of vegetation. Location is also full of flies which were extremely distracting whilst I took my photos. Decent view in one direction only.

Pulled in at field entrance about 100 metres east of ridge of high ground at corner of road, bit muddy but tried to keep wheels on fairly solid ground. Up embankment and over a low barbed wire fence. Pillar on grassy knoll. Reasonable views to the north east and north west. FB defaced.

Decided to walk from Gore Hill over Telegraph Hill to this trig. Studying the map, I thought the walk looked to be a good one, and it was. Could see the pillar in the near distance as I strolled through a couple of green fields after coming down from Telegraph Hill. Pillar nicely situated on its prominent small hill. Has its cap & one s/h open. Just over an hour, there & back. Dorset was wonderful today in its Arctic coat!

Obviously when Glaslyn paid a visit someone had recently done some cutting & pruning. No such luck for me I had to find a path wading through waist high gorse , prickly weeds and long grass in order to get to the top of this steep mound. Once on top locating the Trig took a moment of scanning the vegetation. Once found all is in good condition with some nice views. Ordnance Survey website lists the computing year as 1950 and the height a/s/l as 201.783 metres (662.02 feet). P.S from here it's only 3 miles down the road (A352) to visit the rather faded but none the less impressive Cerne Abbas Giant.
