All intact. The pillar is not on land owned by the adjacent small farm/small holding but part of a much larger agri farm, according to the owner of the adjacent farm who came over for a chat and whom we'd asked permission to visit. We were advised to walk around the field boundary from the road were we were met a pillar by said farmer

Tried to contact farmer shouted plus knocked could not get any response at all so i walked the 400 yrds or so out and back, the trig was in good condition not much of a view. All quiet just about 4 metres from the car and the farmer caught up with me and he was not pleased,i apologized profusely but it was not enough..He said i was lucky as he has alsatians and they run free sometimes and warned me of the health and safety issues etc if anything went wrong, any way he said i would be reported to the police.Hope i haven't spoiled any future access for anyone else.

Also parked at Summit farm and spoke to farmer. He advised me to head for the muck pile and trig was close by in hedge. NB There is no need to walk through Summit Farm. To access the trig, walk back down the lane and round the edge of Summit Farm, there is an obvious track.

Parked at Summit Farm, had a word with farmer there, he said not his land, so use field to south. The other farmer was ploughing in the next field but didn't seem bothered by me. Not the best of spots.

With Trig Pillocksson. Forgot to bring my secateurs from the car but managed to push back and bend/break a few of the bits of hawthorn from over the top so that TP could clamber up and pose standing on the top.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 30th April 1951 costing 12.4s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SE97/T32 in 1954. Levelled for height in 1968. Last maintained by the OS in July 1984. SITE VISIT: Approached from NNW. Parked on wide verge, SW side of road at SE939726. Followed west side of field boundary hedge directly to back of trig. Space to hop over at south end by dung heap. Trig well buried in hedge and behind fence, required some careful twig pruning for photography. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces southeast, ~121. Vented through NE sight hole. No view due to high hedges etc. Returned ENE along fenceline to road.

Accessible from nearby road. About 100yds south-east of Summit Farm a track leaves the road. Follow this along hedge side with hedge on left and continue to large pile of manure. At corner of fence turn sharp right back towards the farm and the pillar can be found hidden in the hedge. Everything seems to be in good order but pillar is well and truely part of the hedge.
