As others have mentioned, permission given no problem by the farmer after running down the track from the main road and asking at the door. A quick wander through 2 gates eastbound, before a left turn to head N to the next gate, after which another L turn and there it was on the correct side of the hedge (on the N side)

First attempt to get to HCF was with the dogs, and tried a surreptitious route from Ricknall Lane End following the ROW E to the A1, N a few hundred yards then NW along a green lane and field edges to within sight of the TP but the final hedge proved to be an impassable barrier (at least it is with two dogs in tow). Returned to the car and had to leave the dogs, and repeated almost exactly paulxtr's route and experience below - identical to the 'almost lost a welly in the mud' bit! I'm not sure what the main income of High Copelaw Farm is but if there is a market for mud they won't be going hungry...The lady at the farm was lovely and more than happy for me to visit the TP, told me about the OS cut mark too. On way back from the TP met one of the farmers, then his brother, both charming and interested in our 'hobby'. They told me about a visit from 'a couple of lads from Blackburn' - Earby Rambler & P61, I guess that means you! TP still has its cap. Pretty well buried in the hedge, and in truth the views aren't all that special. But definitely one for mud lovers!!

Parked in layby at start of farm track. Glad I didn't attempt to drive to the farm as the track was very muddy. Rang the bell at the farm to be greeted by the amiable farmer who told me that it was no problem at all to visit. Like the farm lane, the route to the trig was very muddy - almost lost a welly in the morass! Pillar is on N side of hedge.

Pillar damaged at three top corners, two of which gives it the slightly damaged classification. Has metal cap. Open views over fields - can see A1(M) traffic.
