Log #288. Route as per GRP. Was a little awkward to find a place to hop the stone dyke and cross the stream, but definitely not insurmountable. New-ish barbed fence is very well signed, warning that you will bring about the apocalypse if you cross the fence. The scramble up the banking to the trig was a little hampered by the wet leaves, but it was easy enough to pick out a route. A huge swathe of gorse has grown around the pillar since the last visits - I wasn't prepared for that, so I was unable to trim it back at all. Pillar's condition hasn't changed, other than the gorse. Didn't manage to get a picture of the FB unfortunately. [ExP-213/MiP-18/Rev-2/BM-16/IS-30/Other-9]

Second visit. For GPS measurement and photographs. Parked on west side of road on widened area just south of entrance to quarry at NS430615. Walked up road to NS431612 then near straight line to top by scrambling up through rocks. In scrubby undergrowth by quarry but away from edge. Column top damaged as a result of spider removal. Centre pipe top open. Flush bracket faces 285 (WNW). All sight holes open. Views limited due to surrounding shrubbery.

Top thoroughly chewed, stripping away cap, spider and all four corners.. kinda surprised that the FlushBracket is in such good nick! It should have a nice Westward winter view but for now the trees are obscuring pretty much every angle.. definitely not one to wear shorts - gorse, thorns and nettles are Rife! ..flies-a-hoachin today too! On the plus side; the Wester Craigenfeoch Farmer was a nice auld chap that allowed me to park in his courtyard... easiest route is following his overgrown track SouthWest before striking due North up the tail of the wee crag.. when the Quarry view opens out, about-turn and the pillar is among the trees.

High Craig ..too much flora and fauna - bloomin flies!

Muchly knackered pillar on top of crag. Spider missing (although a bolt still present). All sightholes open though! The pillar itself looks a bit "chewed". Stands on a rocky outcrop beside a quarry edge in the midst of a load of brambles and gorse. Heavy going. Approached from SE (ignoring warning signs!) which is a muddy, but short, slog up the hill. As previous posters noted, no danger provided you take care and don't wander blinding off the quarry edge. Quarry itself is worth a look (huge!).

Not much of a view from the trig itself but a look down into the quarry below is reasonably interesting. Not as dangerous as the average Highland trig bag!

Top missing. Absolutely no danger involved in bagging trig, despite plethora of signs warning otherwise. Unless you count the brambles, which are admittedly a bit troublesome.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 3rd September 1946 costing 9.7s.0d. In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NS77/T160 in the Glasgow secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1968. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1971. Overlookng quarry edge. S3933 is now minus its whole spider. Although I cannot be certain, I do not remember that being missing in 1989.
