Followed FP from Ridley up through fields on a 10 mile circular from Beeston Castle. Lots of feisty cows. Trig is on the FP. Views are not anything to write home about but the trig's Engineers Crest is interesting.

A cold glittering bright Spring day. Walking away from the glorious wooded hills and into the ancient feeling pastures. Skirtingh the edge of Cholmondley estate and a few very close enclosures with Fresians and Jerseys. Another walk back in the dark with the owls taking over from crows and curlew.

Parked on the grass verge on the A534 Wrexham Road by the public right of way (PRoW). Walked up the PRoW. Eventually you come to a gate. Climbed over the gate, and the pillar can be found on the left a few yards ahead. This is a crested trig pillar, as it was built by the Royal Engineers in the mid 1940's, and they would place their regimental crest on to the pillar. Wynnstay Hall near Ruabon, Wrexham, was used as a training establishment for the Royal Engineers Survey Cadre, and as part of their training during the 1943-47 period, the trainees were tasked with building some of the secondary and third order pillars. The Highash pillar is one of only eight that have the crest

Just setting off for short walk up reservoir road when farmer stopped me and wanted to know what I was doing. I said I was going to use the marked prow to visit the trig - apparently he has had some of the farm equipment he keeps up there nicked and was worried I was going to help myself! So maybe it's not a good idea to drive up there anymore

Managed to drive most of the way to this one. Looked very much like a lane and even had a road name. Drove up past the res and tower followed track bending to the left. Parked up in the gateway, could see trig in the field not far from where I had parked.

Nice location, close to RoW, at end of concrete road, primarily for access to NWW (now UU)reservoir buildings. Easy parking at road in entrance to lane. Views across to Peckforton Castle.

Probably the most recent of a few visits over the years. Easy access on public footpath up from the A534 or from Spurstow. Good views for such a low trig point.

Pretty straight forward and not too exciting. Probably quite attractive in the summer with a pond next to it. There's enough room to pull a car in to the entrance without blocking the gate.

There is parking opposite Ridley Bank Farm. Follow private concrete drive to underground reservoir then keep ahead on rough track to next gate. Trig point is located just inside field by pond. Good views to north including Beeston Castle and Jodrell Bank.
