Parked to the north on Woodcock Court. Between numbers 53 and 55 there is an access road that allows you to get into the field the pillar is located in. Field currently has knee high grass and doesn’t appear to be used for grazing at the moment. Pillar in good condition.

TP3818 Access route into the field between numbers 53 and 55. The gate into the trig pillar field is on the left hand side just past the wooden gates.

Parked opposite the Farriers Arms. Took same route as Jonglew. No horses in the paddock today, but there were horses in adjoining one. the Madejski stadium could be seen in the distance.

My final extant Berkshire pillar. Parked in Spencers Wood, in a layby opposite the Farriers Arms PH. Used the access track to Stanbury Park, seems to be a dog walking area. Followed the roughly mowed field boundary round to the pillar, which is located in a paddock (unoccupied today), so a couple of stock fences to negotiate just before it. It sits a metre or 2 from fencing, on the NE side, so is easily accessible. Original top cap is retained, deeply indented lettering; all sight holes closed.

Got access to this via Stanbury Park, Shinfield just off Basingstoke Road and had to climb through some barbwire and duck under the electric fence. No horses were in the field. Pillar is in good condition.

Parked at the pub car park (the Farriers Arms, junction of Basingstoke Rd & Clares Green Rd). Alternate car parking available on the layby on Basingstoke Rd opposite the pub. Walked along the path opposite the church (to the left of the bus stop as you're looking at the bus stop). Past the first gate (metal) by the roadside, past a derelict house that looks like it's being renovated. Past the second gate (wooden), then walked along the track to the third gate (metal). Climbed over this metal gate into a field with cows. We then walked around the edge of this field anticlockwise direction to avoid the cows. I.e. once past the third gate we went right. Spent ages looking in the completely wrong field for this trig station, with the help of 2 local dog walkers! Eventually gave up and started heading back when we chanced on the trig station! Pretty much hidden from view by the trees & hedges, in the next field with horses, in between a telegraph pole and a tree. Found a way to get underneath the barbed wire fences, and bagged this trig station. It felt really trespassy, so I had to leg it pretty fast. Snapped a few photos and then got the heck out of there. Original metal cap.

Returning home from shopping trip to Reading so called in on the off-chance and struck lucky. Easy access from W into empty horse paddocks (leccy fences not on!). Shouldn't be surprised if this trig isn't lost in due course in view of the amount of new houses springing up around it. Limited views W over Reading otherwise surrounding trees. Trig is in vgc, W and N s/holes open, metal cap deep letters.

Parked at the Chapel to the South East then along what looks like a footpath (although not marked on map) then off to the North West at next gate - bit tresspassy - pillar is located in next field over barbed wire and electric fence next to horse paddock - pillar good condition not much in the way of views.
