no one around to ask at Hightown Farm to West but I did try. Walked up to trig, fortunately in field next to one with very frisky cattle. Unfortunately I met farmer on return who was very displeased that I had disturbed his cattle.

I too asked permission at the farm before my walk to the top which formed a nice break on the way back to Coventry from Scotland. I was warned that the cattle were fierce but they were fine.

I'd intended to go to Criffel for my 400th trig, but the weather put me off. A good decision - there was sleet even on top of this small Marilyn. Easy parking at start of road to S.Cowshaws, but walk along the road towards Hightown, rather than heading in the first gate. That way you'll avoid shredding your best Paramo trousers on a barbed-wire topped wall like I did.

With Jamie Jo day after the Hearts v Gretna.cup final at Hampden park. Grassy sheepfield, shaley near top. Gentle drizzle feels like tears as very poignant numbers on the flush bracket, the date of the London tube bombings last year and same day I also escaped a probable and likely to have been maybe fatal serious car smash by about half a second. It's a powerful memorial pillar to that day.
