Parked on Eaves Lane. Then climbed over a gate on Cinder Lane into the Trig field, and headed south west up to the pillar.

With SDT. Longish walk from Lea. The trig was in a field of knee-high grass, presumably for hay/silage/haylage. We took some photos from the gate and called it a bag!

Unremarkable viewpoint in an unremarkable field. Not even the highest point in the field. At least it was dry underfoot. The only point of interest were the trees around the field were alternatively oak and ash, so it would be a good place for long range forecasting in spring. Refering to leaf emergence- oak before ash,splash; ash before oak, soak. That's how exciting bagging this trig was.

Circular walk from boat tied at Woodplumpton Aqueduct on Lancaster Canal. Followed row through head high nettles & thistles then across bullocky field to road at Moor Side then lanes to gate and up to pillar. Return via Hall Farm and row across fields. Glad I'd decided to change out of shorts & sandals before setting out!

HISTORY: Pillar build date and cost not on record. Computed as secondary triangulation station SD74/7 within the Blackburn block during 1948. Levelled for height in 1960. Last maintained by the OS in December 1980. SITE VISIT: Approached from north. Parked across disused private track on south side of Cinder Lane. Field gate is ~20m east along lane. Grass field. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre contains a grey plastic cap, fitted 12/05/2002 by JWR. Flush bracket faces NNE, ~26°. Vented through SE & SW sight holes. Limited outlook due to surrounding trees and foliage.

A joint visit with Carole. We parked in a gateway on the lane to the north. Had to climb the gate as it was tied up and then straight up and down a very wet field. The pillar is in very good condition but has a replacement plastic type plug.

First trig of the summer this,spent many hours near to here fishing on the lancaster canal when i was a young lad.Trig is set in the middle of a meadow and is in vgc plastic plug views restricted by trees, easy acsess from gate at side of road.
