Parked in a forestry track entrance on the yellow road up from the A97, sign posted Mytice. Followed the track, which was somewhat overgrown with broom and whin, to the new plantation protected by a new, styleless deer fence. Various clambering excercises then took place, including over the three lines of barbed wire mention by the Jackrustles, before arriving, bedraggled, by the trig. Good views north and west. Descent was via a forest machinery track in the adjoining mature forest. Slightly better as there were no fences to cross. With Nozzer.

Intended to approach via the wooded strip from A97 but couldn't see where to park and then noticed some severe felling of said strip. Consulted 1:25k map and parked at NJ 51344 34213 and followed track up to top of felling, then picked my way through old felling and newly planted trees. Then up the hill following the fenceline to the trig. Three barbed wires on fence to cross if you want to hug it and bottom of fence not too strong for climbing over. Combination of coat and plumbing insulation got me over in the end! Back via same route.

We approached the Hill of Collithie from the Coynachie parking and picnic area by walking along the road towards Drumfergue farm. Turn off at the first track up to the left and climb up towards the Cat's Craig. Following the forest track towards the open fields. Crossing the boundary proved difficult with three layers of barbed wire fence all within about 60cm depth. Once across, climb up to the top of Hill of Collithie. We returned to Coynachie by going straight down towards the Coynachie road. Advisable not to enter fields if cattle are in it, they were very feisty and fast and the steep incline meant they could run a whole lot faster than us! Beautiful range of butterflies on the walk through the forest; Speckled Wood, Scotch Argus and Ringlet.

Easiest approached from the A97 to the north of the wooded strip. Some barbed wire fences to negotiate. The pillar is in good order. The spider retains an OS centre cap with deep indented lettering. The flush bracket is on the NW face of pillar. Open outlook to the north and west.
