It brings people from all over the world for a week in June. I gift todays non existent trigs to bikes, come a full circle and my chosen form of transport/hobby any day.

More interesting than Brier Low, as only half the hill is quarried (Hillhead quarry). Leaving the public footpath, what's left can be ascended to the perimeter fence, giving some idea of what the approach to the trig must have been like. The pillar itself must have stood not far beyond the now farthest point. There are good views of the remaining hill from the bridleway to the west.

You have been warned! The top of Hind Low today.

Walked from Longnor over Parkhouse and Chrome Hills. I’d seen these hills when I visited Hollinsclough Moor and Axe Edge last week. I thought I knew the Peak District but they were new to me – I looked at the maps and couldn’t see any footpaths but they were open access so I put them into a route with Hind Low and High Wheeldon. I was very impressed – they certainly are the Peak Districts answer to Striding Edge. They are both very steep with a bit of exposure and scrambling (well for me). I was a great spring day but the conditions were very slippery in places I’d fallen over twice in the first 15 minutes – the ground was hard with frost with a covering of thawed mud. Anything good to say about Hind Low – good views looking away from the quarry. Nearest position SK0809368944 within 52ft.

You have to admire em somehow. Such a huge chasm, but totally invisible (before Google Earth!). And just think, in a few years time this is where all the iPhone 4s will be. Same lazy hop as Brier Low. Didnt quite make the obvious, and impressive, high spot as I figured a missing Trig Point isnt worth a multiple battle with barbed wire. Ive got a new car donchaknow!
