Parked opposite and walked over, gate by trig was wide open so walked through. Mist was beginning to lift so could see some view but not a lot but a lovely location to come back to in the summer. Trig in good condition other than the thick dried-on mud over the flush bracket.

Ten trigs bagged on the way to and around Buxton with a total of thirteen miles hiked for the day. This was the eighth of the day. Parked in the lay-by opposite the pillar for the easiest roadside bag of the day. Good views and the pillar is in good condition and retains the original centre for the spider.

1/2 visited today. Had a pedal over the county line and came across a lovely area S of this trig that I have never stepped foot in. I am ashamed, because it is only 5 miles from where I live. No excuses either. Saw Chrome and Parkhouse (coral reef) from a new angle. I gift this trig to "holidays", decided to treat the current situation as if I am on holiday. So lots of cycling, walking new areas, visit local historical buildings, picnics etc.

Wonderful late afternoon sunlight bathing the land in glorious colour, perfectly in time for our arrival up here. Super side on view of Chrome Hill too. No hanging about though, just a quick exchange of pleasantries with the field residents and then back into the car and off to the White Hall Centre for Bagger Rambles 2017.

Passing nearby on the way to a book fair in Buxton. An easy pillar, close to the lane and adjacent to a dry stone wall in grass field. Original plug with slightly-indented letters. Faint traces of white paint. South and west sight holes open, others closed. Concrete base just visible under flush bracket. Views not too good today due to mist.

On a day's walking with Tracker Dog. Having hit the previously visited great trigs at Wheeldon and Sheen Hill for the views, Hollinsclough was a new one for me. Easy trig to find by the minor road above Hollinsclough village. Good views, I like the way Parkhouse looks so different from different angles.

The accidental consequences of the lad in front of me having bought the last copy of our newspaper in Longnor, so heading back to Buxton and chanced upon this trig. Rather muck spattered, with a small clump of bright yellow crocuses adjacent, we reckon the bulbs must have passed completely undigested through a cow! Great views on a sunny evening, S and W s/holes open, metal cap, shallow letters, vgc except for its muck overcoat.

An easy bag. I crossed the corner off the field which had recently been slurry sprayed - so had the Pillar!. Exit over the low wall. A good high point and not far from the Pub.

Retraced my steps back down the hill from Hardings Booth pillar until I could hop over the wall onto the access road for Longnor Wood caravan park. Followed this down to Milldale and then headed SW along a PROW past Hillend where I had a lovely conversation with a resident and her noisy but friendly Jack Russells. Continued down the PROW to Shining Ford where I turned N picking up another PROW along the valley to intersect with the Manifold Trail. Passing through Hardings Booth it was then a slow climb up Ball Back Lane to Edge Top Road where I saw my first lambs of 2013. The trig is located in a field immediately after the open access heather moorland of Hollinsclough Moor opposite a layby. I accessed the pillar via the nearby gateway from the road as wall looked rather unstable. Pillar is in good condition with original cap (indented lettering) and one sighthole open. Good views across to Chrome Hill. Returned to Longnor via the track across Hollinsclough Moor, past Coatestown and then steeply downhill into Hollinsclough followed by an uneventful stroll along New Road and a final stretch along the Manifold Trail after Daisy Knoll.

So. After a sensible amout of beer, top down and head home. Just one last roadside one. At this felt just right. End of a sunny day, last rays catching Chrome Hill, this was perfect moorland. Parking spot to boot. Wonderful day.

Metal plug [indented letters]. Private. Owner unknown. Peak District National Park. OS 1:25 map suggests on Access Land, but actually separated from it by field wall. Easily accessed over rusty old gate. If not approaching along the road, can be reached by tracks up from Hollinsclough & across the moor.

tis still there. fasgadhs fast descent was my slow climb from longor, but carry on and there is a pub at flash bar - the travellers rest :-) views OK - TBH IMHO mainly green for miles - could be more interesting .

Easy one to find, after a walk on Chrome Hill. VERY foggy, but parked by the side of the road, walked past the little "poem bench" climbed the iron gate and hey presto. As I say, very foggy, so no view.

Convenient large layby opposite. Two ways into field either by metal gate on road side or rusty gate with bardwire by the trig point. I chose the latter.

Roadside, just inside a gate. Cattle in field. There was a small piece of moorland on one side of the dyke. Just before a very fast descent to Longnor

Pillar and pillar field were pretty ordinary, though there were great views over to Chrome Hill. The Llamas in the field opposite came to say hello!
