Storm Ellen has arrived , very windy and raining. Parked in lay bye on A683 at junction of lane towards Holme Farm. Walking up the road to Fellside and then the footpath east then N.E following quad tracks across two fords and up to trig point. Very windy at top didn't stop too long.

A straightforward walk in from the minor road to the north. Parked near the footpath sign and followed the track to the top. A fine and sunny day so good all round views today. A leisurely 2 hour walk today.

Walked up from the A683 and carried on past Fellside on a good track. Just as well that the trig became visible as we had started to go too far east. Once we had something to aim for it was a lot easier. Lovely views down onto Sedbergh and the Lune valley

Roadside parking on open fellside at SD 6456 9063. Quad track initially, then over rough ground. On to the tump top some 550m SE. Pillar has lost its centre cap; all sight holes open. Cloud down but there were limited misty views all round.

A broiling day trying to keep in the Lune and Rawthey valleys - had planned a walk up but just too hot for me. Wait until the evening and a glorious walk watching the stormy edge of cloud to the south as Cumbria basks. Big glorious sunny elephants.

Having already done Calf Top we continued along the National Park boundary wall and were privileged to view the magnificent scenery of Dentdale and the Howgill Fells. This trig is located on a high point overlooking Sedbergh. A 7km walk back to Barbon on a minor road provided endless opportunities to admire our lovely English hedgerows.

From the parking spot close to the Head Inn ( for sale ) walked up past Fellside and followed the tracks circuitously to the Trig , which is in good condition with a slight chip near the bottom SW corner , the cap is open as are all the sight holes, excellent viewpoint esp of the Howgills , returned following a quad track that lead directly across the moor to Fellside

Approach from N. Pillar has 'large' pockmark/chip (approx 60mm mean dia x 20mm max depth) low down at LH edge of FB face - otherwise good condition. Open spider. Far distant views in haze today,

I was walking the course of the River Lune, from sea to source over five days. Because of a lack of decent public footpaths between Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh I took the high route over Middleton Fell, collecting two trigs on the way.

Walked from Sedbergh up the steep northern face of this rugged little hill. Unusually, the pillar is smooth on two faces and rough on the other two. Spent a relaxing half hour here basking in the warm mid-September sun.

Parked on the minor road around the Hun Bank area then headed south. Lovely views in all directions especially the Howgills and once at the sumit the lakeland fells. Ground ok underfoot, still slightly frozen can imagine its a bit wet if not!

Walked up from fell road to the North. A combination of short grass, bog and occasional rocky step to negotiate. Despite the distant haze/mist some good views from the trig. It looks like in the distant past someone has tried to remove the FB. The concrete has been chipped away.

The 3rd of four trigs on an 18.5 mile walk starting above Gale Garth and continuing onto Brownthwaite, Calf Top and Holme Knott before returning via Crag Hill. Beautiful sunny day with a brisk wind. Ground was good underfoot after a few weeks of great weather.

Parked at Fellside & followed PROW before heading directly up the hillside to the trig. Lovely spot but the views were spoilt by the low cloud. Very windy at trig & as i started down a very heavy wintery shower was blowing straight into my face. Cheers then!

vgc, no cap or plug, fine rock & grass summit, pasture, fine view. From WSW, good tarmac track as far as farm (unocc & being refurbed), then open Access land beyond. Also visited the 300er just to ESE.

This is great walking country,we walked here for about 5 hours today and saw not another living soul all day,can't really comment on the views from the trig as we were in the clouds for a lot of the time.

Delightful walk up from the west parked at fellside followed track to ford then right following beck past an impressive gorge above which the Trig comes into view from which point I tried to creep up to young deer for photo fooled by realistic metal target ! the Trig seemed to pose like it was a film star lovely quiet spot with great views

Walked from Sedbergh up across Holme Fell. Best approach would be from minor road at SD640905 and up moorland track before cutting across to trig. This was the way I came down.

Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed in June 1949 costing £11.2s.6d. In 1950 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station SD47/T21 in the Barrow-in-Furness secondary block. Flush bracket S5518 was levelled for height also in 1950. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in June 1976.
