(1132) I did think this one might be difficult to bag, given previous logs, but all told it was as easy as pie. Parked up at the bottom of the lane (Minnett's Hill) - which is a lot steeper and narrower than I imagined it was going to be - and walked the private road down to Heath Farm. Plenty of sign stating 'No public right of way' and 'CCTV in operation'. A few knocks to the door went unanswered, so assumed no-one was in. But just as I was walking off, the owner surfaced. Permission to visit the pillar was freely given. A short walk from the farm bring you to the pillar, which is situated next to an Elder tree. FB visible and required no digging out. All good.

Parked at end of Minnets Hill road and walked the track to Heath Farm. Just as we arrived at the farm a large tractor driven by lady approached us along the track from the direction of trig point. We asked if we could visit the trig and was told it's on private land. We explained and said that is why we are asking permission. The lady gave us permission to go to the trig.

My planned route was the same as CJO's but ploughing started in one of the fields adjacent to the field boundary. So I waited for the tractor to arrive at my field corner to ask permission of the driver, readily given. A good condition pillar but not much of a view.

A joint visit with Carole. We parked at the end of the 'road' and walked up the 'privatised' track to Heath farm where we tried to ask for permission. Although there were cars in the yard there was no response to our knocking. On the basis that we would probably be allowed a visit we continued on the track to the pillar. Since construction it has either sunk or the ground has been built up against as the flush bracket is partly buried but number still readable. Retains an original indented lettered plug.

Challenged by posh lady ploughing. Nearly didn't make it. I took the same route as THE CYCLIST got through the gate with two private signs in full view of a tractor working in the field at the side of the track. I was expecting trouble the tractor came across and approached in front of me down the track. I immediately asked for permission to visit the pillar by proceeding down the track then turning left up to the trigpoint. The lady said I was on private land and there was no way to the pillar after some discussion she agreed that there was a track and I could visit the pillar as long as I returned the same way. Looking back I think it would have been easier up the hedge line the field only had stubble and was out of view of the farm and the troublesome lady and its much shorter. The nearby pole and aerial are a seismic monitoring station (so the lady said). Good parking at the end of the lane.

Third of three successful visits today to reach pillars previously attempted but not reached. Snook look at OS 1:25,000 map in WH Smith's in Grantham and the rest was easy. Up steep tarred hill from Barskston, ignore 1st track to left, joined unsurfaced by-way (signed cycle route) then left and left on further tracks right to pillar all the way by bike. Stands on slight mound at end of tumble down wall, obscured by bush, near pole with domestic TV aerial and solar panel. Surrounding fields are flat with no obvious high point.

got in trouble here,no problems finding the trig but spotted a car coming towards me on the way back and knew i was in trouble, explained i had just nipped up to have a quick look at the trigpoint but was told it was on private land and i should not be there, the lady seemed even more upset when she told me i could not get out the way i was walking as the gate was locked and i had to admit i knew this as that was the way i got in,took my punishment, said i was sorry and promised never to do it again and was sent on my merry way.
