Parked outside Hookmoor Cottage and immediately heard barking dogs! Walked along the abandoned road to the pillar which was engulfed by nettles so did a spot of gardening.

Toppled and moved. A traffic jam on the A1(M) had me diverting off. Stopped in a gateway to consider route options and saw I was near a trig, so went looking for it. Needed to check previous logs to find it, at the end of the blocked off lane toppled in the undergrowth.

so sad to see this lying on it side now. It was upright on my first visit back in 1999. Need a pick up truck capable of lifting a ton of concrete and I'd bring it back to my garden!!

revisit different tactics this time,parked up at gate you can see trig from here and post.I jumped gate walked round field sides no trouble from dogs this way.Trig still has fb and cp/plug shame it should be re located somewhere nearby

Had a fail to locate on this one went on the disused road but failed to walk further up because of the large alsation dogs in cottage,however i will return when bagging pontefact trigs.

Took the train to Micklefield and walked up. Pillar is still on its side, toppled with FB facing up. Easy to find, just carry on past Hook Moor Cottage and trig is near the black and white posts. Glad the two Rottweilers at the Cottage could not get out of their yard. Returned by climbing the fence and following the top of the M1 embankment just to be sure though, and the pillar could be accessed this way instead.

Log #60. (88m). Bagged on 10.6km walk from Colton Common to Aberford. Trig has been moved 40 meters S of its original position to end of derelict road. The grid ref is the position that it is now. Toppled over with FB plate facing upward. Otherwise good condition. No distance views due to less than 10km visibility.

Poor sad trig lying around at the side of an obselete road, amongst a pile of rubbish and nettles. The only bonus is the flush bracket is visible. It is interesting to see the foundations.

Sacrilege! Senselessly uprooted.. the tiny field has no obvious use. The pillar is still lying on it's side, surrounded by nettles at the road-end. Nice horse shaped topiary at the neighbouring house.

As Joe saw it I suspect, at the end of the dead end passed the farm. It was kind of weird walking along what was once "The Great North Road" many years back. Im sure that road has been moved 2 or 3 times since it was here !!

This trig point has been recently uprooted and moved about 50 yards. It is lying on its side at the end of a dead end road as the pictures show. What will happen to it next, I don't know. New grid ref is accurate to 3 metres.

Emergency! I passed along the road near to this trig point today 03/03/08, and an adjacent pile is now so big it has completely covered the trig point. Was it removed first or just buried?

Trig in not too bad condition considering it's been moved - at least it's still here. No views, not a lot of interest unless you enjoy watching traffic from the nearby bridge over the M1/A1 link road (I'd rather die a slow painful death, thankyou) - simply no other reason to visit than to 'tig a trig'. I walked up from Garforth Railway Station along the A642\B1217 then the track running to Hookmoor Cottage. Very easy access from the minor road to the east. No cars, on foot!

I'll go on the classification but the GR is almost a perfect match so there must be some history around this anyone with an old map? Trig itself is easily accessed but I spent more time removing the grass seed darts from my lightweights and socks than visiting it. Small traveller camp in layby so parked in gateway blocked by two large bales.

Easily spotted from bridge over the motorway. Other than a scrape mark, condition is reasonable. Suitably relocated, this trig would be an appropriate monument to mark the new northern terminus of the M1.

sunny morning on bank only 100m or so from the new M1 extension SE and east of Leeds...with hindsight I look to have been the last person to see it normal and upright.
